Has Hyundai Been Able To Reshape Their Image?

Has Hyundai Been Able To Reshape Their Image?
By Joshua Rose

It doesn't seem that long ago that Hyundai was getting more chuckles than customers. However, sales growth in recent years indicates that Hyundai has perhaps found their footing and won some respect.

The fact that Hyundai's reputation and market acceptance has risen is actually a fairly notable achievement, given their history of producing ample fodder for laughs on the likes of the Tonight Show and Letterman. Today, however, they're taken quite seriously. The times have changed for this South Korean automaker with U.S. sales now surpassing the 5,000,000 mark.

Hyundai entered the U.S. market in 1986 with a compact sedan called the Excel. Actually, sales were surprising brisk, as they sold 100,000 units in just 7 months. There was a problem, however. Hyundai was not yet prepared to provide adequate service for the number of cars sold. This really hurt their image for quality and their reputation suffered significantly.

Adding fuel to the fire were subsequent models that didn't stand up to American standards for expected levels of quality.

The turn around began in earnest in 1999 when a new Chairman, Chung Mong-koo, stressed quality as the company's #1 priority, while investing heavily in new product designs. And the results have been impressive.

In 2006, for example, J.D. Power ranked Hyundai #1 for non-luxury brands, beating out Japan's Toyota Motor Corp. And when including luxury brands, Hyundai was ranked No. 3.

And edmunds.com says, Hyundai is known for producing vehicles that offer great value at low prices.

This emphasis on quality has fueled Hyundai's U.S. market share up to 3.4%. And last year, Hyundai sold 450,000 vehicles in the U.S.. It's target for 2007 is 550,000 units.

Hyundai has also become known for attractive pricing, plenty of features, and a 100,000 mile Factory Warranty, one of the longest in the industry.

It's for these reasons that people, still laughing from the old days, may want to add Hyundai to their list of new or used cars to consider the next time they're in the market.

Why You Should Buy a Jeep Compass?

Why You Should Buy a Jeep Compass?
By Lisa Ziegler

Despite the Jeep Compass signature features such as the seven-slot grille, round lights and four wheel drive, this Jeep is also making quite a noise at the lower end of the SUV market. Designed to attract young car buyers with age ranging from mid 20s to late 30s, the Compass is quite smaller in size compared to the other existing model in the line-up and is made to compete with the likes of Toyotas RAV4 and Honda CR-V.

At close inspection one can tell that the Compass styling is a mixture of slinky curves and chiseled angles that need to be seen in order to be appreciated. Although the Jeep Compass may be considered quite eccentric as compared to other SUVs but there is something endearing about the Compass styling.

Jeep by the way preferred to call their Jeep Compass URV short for urban recreational vehicle. The Compass is more like its cousin the Dodges Caliber in the sense that the two share the same foundation plus some other parts and accessories like Jeep door handle cover taken from the DaimlerChrysler parts bin. But despite the similarities the Caliber and the Compass have ended distinct from each other.

The Compass interior is also a maze of hard plastics which includes the aluminum-look surround used for the centre console. The cabin was also made tolerable with the use of the nifty two-toned leather seats that has made the dark interior more subtle. The seats were very comfortable except for the steering column beating down on your knee caps whenever any footwork is required.

If you not used to lounging behind the steering wheel then youre in for a surprise with the Boston Acoustics sound system at full tilt lolling will somehow makes sense. There is also a set of speakers mounted on the tailgate and can be unclipped once you want to take the party out the car.

The Compass provides a load space of up to 170 cm3 of space with all the seats folded down. The luggage area is covered with a hardy nylon floor cover that can be removed and washed any time.

All of the Compass Limited models are equipped with heated leather seats, power windows, power heated side mirrors, six-disc MP3 compatible CD changer, adjustable steering and a hard sliding armrest located at the top of the center console.

In terms of safety equipment the Compass is equipped with dual front airbags and side curtain airbags, ABS complete with off-road calibration, ESP with yaw sensors, traction control with brake assist and electronic roll mitigation. All of the 18 inch alloys are connected to a standard tire pressure monitor. The Compass will also have the MacPherson strut and multi link arrangement that is a first for any Jeep vehicle.

Jeep Compass will also feature the Freedom Drive all-wheel drive system which cab be manually engaged at any speed by using a bright chrome lever placed just above the hand brake lever. Another first for Jeep is the 2.4 liter World Engine which was developed in partnership with Hyundai and Mitsubishi is also offered in the Compass. The 16-valve four cylinder delivers 125 kW at 6000 r/min and 220 Nm at 4500 r/min.

The prices for the Compass are as follows:

Compass 2.4 5-speed manual R224,900
Compass 2.4 CVT R254,900
Compass 2.0 CRD R279,900

All of Compass models are covered by the three-year/100,000 km warranty and maintenance plan of DaimlerChrysler.

10 Rules That Make Renting a Car Online Simple

10 Rules That Make Renting a Car Online Simple
By Aaron Brooks

Computers and the World Wide Web are turning people into mouse clickers. One can do just about anything on the net: file for divorce, hire a car, and search for a husband or date, and shop. If you ever need to rent a car you need no longer go to a hire agency, the whole process can be done online.

To make renting a car online safe and easy, just follow these 10 rules:

1.Do a thorough search on the net and short list a few rent-a-car companies. Determine their rates, when they were established, and their business module. Find out whether they have a good reputation. A few examples of excellent companies are www.avis.com and www.hertz.com.

2.Locate a company that offers you a good deal and is located close to where you live. If you collect and return the car quite close to the companys location you will save money.

3.Before you approach a company online and fill in your needs, make up your mind on what kind of car you want, for how many days, what features are essential for you and so on. Consider where you are going and find out whether you will need anti-freeze or snow chains.

4.Before you fill in your needs and pay for a car you must read through the contract and the terms and conditions in fine print. List any questions you may have and ring up the companys toll free number for clarifications.

5.Use as ready reference the list of essential documents required for renting a car and get all your papers in order. While some companies accept scans of documents others may ask you to courier the documents or drop them off.

6.Make sure the package you choose is beneficial and determine if you are entitled to any discount. Before making an online payment check to see whether the company has a safe gateway.

7.And be sure to ensure that the car is insured , its papers are in order, and that the company has a few travel insurance schemes.

8.Many companies top the tank before you get the car while others require you to fill the gas. Find out as much as you can about the company policy regarding gas, free drop off and pick up, and who is responsible if the car needs any repair.

9.Check whether you have the car rental companys 24/7 contact numbers and e-mail addresses in case of emergency.

10.Check whether your drivers license is valid for where you are planning to drive and whether the car rental company has any rules about only the person renting the car being allowed to drive.

Many rent-a-car companies have great marketing schemes in place they offer discounts, coupons, reward points, and more. Visit car rental directories to find out what is new and what is beneficial.

'Brand Watch' Finds Best Exteriors For New Truck And Suv Shoppers

'Brand Watch' Finds Best Exteriors For New Truck And Suv Shoppers
By Benjamin Hudson

When buying something, most people intently look at the outer surface of a thing because it oftentimes says the quality and performance.

Kelley Blue Book and Kelley Blue Book Marketing Research announced the results of the Exterior Styling segment of its newest automotive research study, Brand Watch.

Kelley Blue Book Vice President for Marketing and Market Research Rick Wainschel said exterior styling is one of the top decision factors among vehicle shoppers, and consumers' perceptions can add or eliminate a brand from someone's consideration list. He added that the real-time reporting of the Brand Watch data and the ability to see these brand perceptions can be extremely helpful in tracking shifts in new vehicle shopper attitudes and developing responses to those shifts.

The Kelley Blue Book Brand Watch Study on Exterior Styling was further categorized into seven segments. These are the convertibles/Sports cars, Trucks, Minivans, Luxury SUVs, Non Luxury SUVs, Luxury Sedan, and Non Luxury Sedan.

The results gave some surprises. Porsche bested other convertibles or sports cars by ranking number one in the category. It was followed by Mercedes-Benz at rank 2, then by Jaguar at rank 3.

For new trucks, according to auto shoppers, Ford has the best exterior, and then followed by GMC and then Chevrolet. Dodge, Toyota, Nissan, and Honda almost got a spot in the category where it placed fourth, fifth, eight, and eleventh, respectively. In the Minivans category, however, Dodge ranked 1; Toyota ranked 2; and Honda ranked 3.

Consumers find BMW as the luxury SUV with the best exterior, Lexus as the second best and Mercedes-Benz as the third. Meanwhile, on the Non Luxury SUVs, the top three in rank in descending order- is composed of Ford, Toyota and GMC.

BMW indeed proved its luxury when it ranked 1 again in the luxury category, this time, for the Sedan. Mercedes-Benz immediately followed at rank two and Infiniti at rank 3. Meanwhile, on the Non Luxury Sedan, Nissan, Honda and Toyota bagged the first, second, and third place, respectively.

Volkswagen, with its newly enhanced VW valve covers for its new vehicles was not found in the top list of the results. Some said this is because the study was only based on the exterior of the car and not on the engine, which is one of the priority parts of a car.

Jack R. Nerad, the Executive Editorial Director and at the same time the Executive Market Analyst of Kelley Blue Book said that as vehicle reliability reaches near-parity in the market, they predict that exterior styling will play an even bigger role in building new-vehicle sales and brand equity. He further said the results of the Brand Watch study demonstrate that the industry is, and should be, placing great emphasis on what their vehicles look like.

Brand Watch taps into active shoppers to determine their perceptions of automotive brands within specific automotive segments and is available to vehicle manufacturers and auto industry professionals. Brand Watch further deals into how each manufacturer's brand equity differs across vehicle segments, compares the relative standing of each make versus competitive makes, and reveals the decision factors of car-buyers within each make and segment. Also, detailed demographic and psychographic information is collected, reported and detailed throughout Brand Watch's comprehensive study which is available quarterly from Kelley Blue Book Marketing Research.

Driving Our Car While Fighting To Stay Awake

Driving Our Car While Fighting To Stay Awake
By Daniel Baldyga

While on a trip, or even close to home, we all want to keep driving for as long as possible. Yet nobody, in their right mind, wants to be a threat to ourselves (or others) because were too sleepy to operate our motor vehicle. Self-awareness of our sleepiness is always the key to driving safely!

In a report dated just last year 2004, the National Safety Council wrote that traffic death rates are 3 times greater at night - - than during the day!

This report also stated, Driving at night is more of a challenge than most people think and its much more dangerous.

So, you may ask, What is it that makes night driving so dangerous?

The NATIONAL SAFETY COUNCILS answer to that one is as follows, DEALING WITH THE DARKNESS IS AN IMPOSSIBLE TASK. 90% of a drivers reaction depends upon vision and that is severely limited at night. Depth perception, color recognition plus peripheral vision are compromised after sundown .

PLUS: Another huge factor, as stated by the NSC (which adds to even more danger when youre night driving) is fatigue. Day or night drowsiness will always make ones driving more difficult because it dulls concentration and it surely slows reaction time.

IN ORDER TO PROPERLY HANDLE THE ABOVE FACTORS THE FOLLOWING IS RECOMMENDED

#1.You must observe night driving safety as soon as the sun goes down. Twilight is one of the most difficult times to drive because your eyes are constantly changing to the growing darkness.

#2.YES, its a Time Consuming Headache - - HOWEVER: You should prepare your car for night driving. Clean headlights, tail lights, signal lights and windows (inside and out) at least once a week and even more often if necessary. You must do this - - especially if youre on a long trip!

#3.Your headlights must be properly aimed. Headlights can blind other drivers and they also reduce your ability to see the road.

#4.If you have any doubt at all you should turn your headlights on. Under normal circumstances lights will most likely not help you see in early twilight but theyll always make it easier for other drivers to see you. Being seen as is important as seeing.

#5.Reduce your speed and increase your following distances. Its much more difficult to judge other vehicles speeds and distances at night.

#6.When following another motor vehicle (be it a car, truck or whatever) you must keep your headlights on low beam so as not to blind the driver ahead of you.

#7.If an oncoming vehicle doesnt click from high to low, you can avoid the glare by watching the right edge of the road and using it as a steering guide.

#8.Make frequent stops for light snacks and exercise. If youre too tired to drive, stop and get some rest.

#9.If you have car trouble, pull off the road as far as possible. If you have what are identified as Reflecting Triangles you should warn approaching traffic by setting them up near your vehicle and about 300 feet behind it.

PLUS: Whether you have reflecting triangles or not you should: A: Turn on your flashers plus your dome light. B: Get your body off the roadway. C: Remove both yourself and your passengers away from the area.

In 2004 NHTSA (The U.S. National Highway Traffic Association Administration) estimates that approximately 100,000 police-reported crashes involved drowsiness and fatigue as a principal casual factor. In their report they stated, About one million crashes per year were thought to be produced by Drowsy Drivers.

In a poll NHTSA ran in 1999, 62% of all adults surveyed reported driving a car (or some other vehicle the previous year = in 1998) while feeling Drowsy, 27% said that they had, at some time, dozed off while driving. 23% of them reported they knew individuals who had experience a fall-asleep crash.

This report also said, People tend to fall asleep more on high-speed, long, boring, rural highways. And that The New York Police estimated that 30% of all fatal crashes, along the New York Thruway, occurred because the driver fell asleep.

10 Reasons To Get A CarFax Report

10 Reasons To Get A CarFax Report
By Aurel Radulescu

A CarFax report is affordable. For less than $50.00, consumers can learn everything that they need to know about a vehicle before agreeing to make a purchase and signing on the dotted line.

With a CarFax report, you will be able to confirm the automobiles VIN number, year, make and model. This is important in making sure that you are purchasing the automobile as it is being presented to you for sale.

With a CarFax report, you can find out if the automobile has ever been flooded or has been repaired for any flood damage. This is very important, especially if purchased in areas that are prone to flooding, hurricane damage, etc. Even if an area is not prone to flood damage, there is always the possibility that an automobile has traveled through high water or been exposed to it at some point.

With a CarFax report, you can find out if the automobile has ever been involved in any type of car accident and, if so, what damages were reported. Every day, automobile accidents occur and the damages often require extensive repairs. It is important for you to know whether or not the automobile you are considering purchasing has ever had any type of damage.

With a CarFax report, you can find out if the automobile has ever suffered from any type of fire damage and, if so, what repairs were made to correct the damages.

With a CarFax report, you can make sure the automobile has a clear title and does not have any liens. This is very important when you purchase an automobile, home or even raw land. If you purchase something that does not have a clear title, you are basically throwing your money away. If you receive a clear title, you will have full ownership of the car and will be able to legally resell it in the future.

A CarFax report will confirm the number of miles to be the original miles as noted on the CarFax report. The sad, but honest, truth is that there are some individuals who attempt to falsify an automobiles actual miles in order to collect a higher sale price.

With a CarFax report, an individual can learn how many previous owners the car has had. This is important in considering why the car has had multiple owners, if it has, and may be a sign that something is wrong. An automobile with only one owner is more likely to be reliable as opposed to one that has been shuffled amongst multiple owners.

With a CarFax report, you can find out what, if any, repairs have been made on the automobile. This is important in considering what type of recurring problem there may be with the automobile or whether or not you are purchasing a lemon. A car that has had excessive repairs, either in various parts or in one particular area, may be an indication that you should be prepared to spend some time at the repair shop as the new owner.

And finally, a CarFax report provides overall peace of mind in knowing that you did the research and are not relying on the seller to provide accurate information. An informed buyer is a smart one.

10 Pointers for Navigating With Your Vehicle in Ice and Snow

10 Pointers for Navigating With Your Vehicle in Ice and Snow
By Kathy Steinemann

Even so-called 'hot' areas of the world like Florida can be hit with sudden cold temperatures which result in frost and black ice on highways. Wherever you live or travel, you should be aware of how to cope with snow and icy driving conditions. The 10 tips in this article will help.

Preparation

1. Make sure that you can see in all directions.

Before setting out on your trip, scrape all ice and frost off windows and brush snow away from the hood, roof, headlights, and taillights. Idling your car for about 5 minutes with front and rear-window defrosters engaged will make this job easier. Pay special attention to headlights and signal lights.

2. Inspect your tires.

You should have good all-season or winter tires. If they don't have sufficient tread, replace them. Check the air pressure of all tires, including your spare. You may need to consult your driver's manual. In many cars, recommended tire inflation pressure is printed on the driver's-side door post. Properly-inflated tires in good condition will give you better control and traction on the road.

3. Fill the gas tank before you leave.

A full or nearly-full gas tank will make your vehicle heavier. This promotes better handling on ice and snow. Frequent refueling stops may seem like a nuisance, but they will allow you to get out of the car and stretch - and help to prevent road-hypnosis and fatigue.

While You Travel

4. Never tailgate!

It is normally recommended that you stay 2 seconds behind the vehicle in front of you *-in good weather conditions on dry roads-*. If you are driving through slush, snow, or ice, you should at least quadruple the safety margin. A safer distance would be 10 seconds. Take note of a tree, fencepost, or other prominent item right beside the vehicle in front of you. Then begin to count slowly: 1001 - 1002 - 1003 - and so on - up to 1010. If you pass the reference item before you reach 1010, you are driving too fast. Gently ease off the accelerator until you are 10 seconds away.

5. Perform gradual steering and speed corrections.

Never make sudden lane changes - and always brake gently. A car can become an out-of-control missile if you ignore this rule. Turn your steering wheel slowly and pump brakes lightly. ABS brakes will automatically do the pumping for you if you apply soft, continuous pressure. If you decide to pass another vehicle, be sure that you have more room than usual, then edge out into the passing lane and gradually back into yours when safe to do so.

6. Front-wheel drive and all-wheel drive vehicles are superior.

Front-wheel drive vehicles are assisted by engine weight to naturally increase their traction and efficiency in snow. All-wheel drive systems automatically sense when one wheel doesn't have the same traction as the others, and will adjust torque accordingly. Rear-wheel drive vehicles don't have a lot of weight where you need it - above the rear wheels. To compensate for this, you can load sandbags or heavy luggage in your trunk. If possible, heavier passengers should travel in the back seat.

7. Skids don't have to scare you!

When in a skid immediately take your foot off the accelerator and DO NOT USE THE BRAKES! Steer gently in the direction of travel once you feel that the vehicle is back in control. Advance practice in an icy or snowy vacant lot may help you to become more proficient at steering out of skids.

8. Don't use high-beam headlights in a snow storm.

High beams reflect off snowflakes in the air. Use your low-beam headlights instead. They are directed down onto the road in front of your vehicle, providing much better visibility.

9. Entering a curve?

If you have to slow down for a curve, do so before you enter it. Speed changes while navigating a bend in the highway can throw your vehicle into a spin. If you accelerate or decelerate while navigating a curve, do so very gradually.

10. Adjust your speed for road conditions.

Posted speed limits are based on optimal conditions during dry weather and good visibility. Slow down! If you feel that you don't have full control of your vehicle, you are driving too quickly.

Advance preparation and reviewing these tips before you travel can make the difference between an enjoyable trip - and a disastrous one.

Global Positioning System (GPS) Internet Vehicle Tracking Can Save

Global Positioning System (GPS) Internet Vehicle Tracking Can Save
By Lillie Davis

Two out of five deaths among U.S. teens are the result of a motor vehicle crash. (Centersfor Disease Control and Prevention 2004) Traffic crashes are the leading cause of death forteenagers who drive. Drivers between the age of 16 and 24 are twenty times more likelyto find themselves in a car accident than any other age group. (National Highway Traffic SafetyAdministration)

Teenage drivers are at a higher risk for being in a car crash because:

Lack of driving experience The first few years of driving are the most dangerous; dont let inexperience behind the wheel harm your child.

A tendency to take risks while driving Teens are more likely to be influenced by peer pressure and distractions. This can lead to reckless driving and speeding.

Feeling of invincibility Teens believe theyre going to live forever and that influences their behavior behind the wheel of their 3,000 pound car.
These 3 things combined are a deadly combination.

But Millennium Plus GPS is a tool that allows parents to monitor and protect their teenagedrivers.

When parents urge their teen to be careful driving, they reply yeah, yeah, yeah. Thenonce they turn the corner with the car, you just keep your fingers crossed and wonder, howdoes my teenager really drive? Well, now youll know for sure! If they speed or dosomething with the car you dont approve of, youll know.

The bottom line is that your teenagers life and safety is priceless. Leave Nothing toChance!! Know everything about your teens driving! Better safe than sorry. Yourteenager doesnt have the wisdom of an adult yet. Thats why they need your closesupervision and attention. You can record the whereabouts of your teens car including location and speed plus many other features with a Millennium Plus GPS system. Millennium Plus GPS will help you do your job of being a parent to keep your teen driversafe and injury-free. Peace of Mind is now affordable. Lillie Davis - http://www.falcongpstracking.com

Through the Centuries with the Buick Century

Through the Centuries with the Buick Century
By Shane Carter

Under the umbrella of the General Motors, the Buick Motor Division is very much responsible for the Buick Century. This model of vehicles is a line of full size performance vehicles that had ran from 1936 to 1942 as well as in 1954 to 1958. The vehicle brand, Buick, also used the name Buick Century in 1973 to 2004 for its value-added intermediate line of cars.

The very first time that the Buick Century made its way on the automotive jungle, this vehicle actually took the place and niche of the Buick Series 60. This happened when the Buick division decided to rename the whole model line up for the 1936 model year. This was due to the celebration of engineering improvements and design advancements. What actually happened to the Buick Century was that it was a combination and concoction of the shorter Buick Special bodies wheelbase to the Buicks engine that holds eight cylinders. During this era, the Buick Century was actually the fastest in its brand line up. It was capable of performing under sustained speeds. Because of this fact, the vehicle was dubbed as the bankers hotrod.

The most recent Buick Century has been constructed to be a midsize sedan. It sports the look that has been compared to an elegant maiden that has beautiful features wrapped in fine simplicity which is a very uplifting description indeed. The Buick Century exudes also a look that says elegance and sophistication. It certainly is one vehicle that stands out from among its competitors. Its ride quality is very much outstanding. It provides a very soft, smooth and quiet performance. And through all these, it also gives its driver and its passengers utmost and great care, comfort, and convenience during the ride.

Before any great changes were done, the Buick Century came simply with a longer intermediate front wheel drive system. It also was offered as a couple, sedan, and station wagon although the latter was crossed out from the list later on. It holds grilles, turn signals, airbags for the drivers side, body colored rub strips, a traction control, a tire inflation monitor, suspension, and side moldings. It also previously held a V6 engine with engine coolant that was guaranteed to last for five years.

This vehicle is mostly appealing to people who are more leaning towards old-fashioned bench seats. It also is a good means of transportation for it has the capacity to take in a maximum of six adults in its cabin. It also holds the typical Buick luxury plus some added features like a keyless entry system, a dual zone climate control, programmable door locks, as well as a CD player. Rumors have it that the Buick Century is nearing another complete overhaul.

You've Got To Love The Porsche 914

You've Got To Love The Porsche 914
By Wayne P. Treister

Back in 1969 Porsche was about to make a lasting impression on the world with the introduction of the sporty, mid mount 4 cylinder boxer engine, two seater Porsche 914.

The design of the 914 was the result of the Porsche and VW working together to produce a new sports car for each of the companies. VW was looking to find a replacement for the Karmann-Ghia and Porsche was looking to use the 911 components but get a fresh new model.

In Europe Porsche took the 914 body and finished it as the 914/6s while VW took it and finished it as the 914/4s. When marketed in North America both were sold as the Porsche 914.

The 914 did not look like any other Porsche on the market. It featured pop up headlamps, flat deck lid over the rear engine, no backseat, and a vertical rear windshield.

The low profile seats mean you are almost sitting on the floorboards and the firewall is located right at your back. There's nothing fancy about the inside, in fact it is very basic. But it also has all the equipment you'll ever need.

It features a nice large tach which remained popular in many models. It has the same transmission that's used in the 928 where you'll find first down and over to the left.

The suspension is hard, the car rides low gripping the road, and the steering is nice and tight. This is a really sporty little car and when the suns out and the winds warm you can pop the targa top off, roll down the windows, and relax.

The flat 4 cylinder mid mount was available in a 1.7 L providing 80 HP, 1.8 L providing 79 HP, and 2.0 L providing 95 HP. All engines come with a 5 speed manual transmission. It has the independent front with lower control arms, anti roll bar, spring struts. The independent rear has transverse torsion bars and anti roll bars.

Wondering what kind of performance this little gem is capable of? You'll be just a little impressed. The 2.0 L used in the 1973 is probably the most popular of the three engines released. It's a blast to put the petal to the metal and listen to the sound of that rpm band and oh yes let's not forget the power.

From 1970 to 1972 the 914-6 was released but it didn't last very long with less than 3500 actually produced. There were also a small number of 914-6 GTs produced at the same time. They were given the higher performance 911 engine and suspension designed for the race track.

The 914-6 was agile with quick acceleration and good handling and breaking. In fact in many aspects it was considered superior to the 911. To drive it felt much like the 914-4 but in the upper RPM it definitely had more punch.

1974 the cars destined for North America saw the introduction of the 1.7 L engine which was bored to 1.8 L. It was combined with the Bosch fuel injection system for the emissions control required in North America.

1975 saw the end of an era when production of the 914 was ended. Eventually it would be replaced by the 924 and the 914's 2 L engine was continued in the 912E considered a level entry model.

When it comes to cool and gotta have the 914 definitely fits the bill. This is a great little sports car that's nice and peppy, has great handling, and lots of snap. And with today's high fuel costs it's a real treat in that department too. You do need to watch for rust though. It is the biggest enemy of the 914.

If you love the look of the sports cars from the 1970's, understand the value of a Porsche, and like to stand out in a crowd the Porsche 914 is definitely a car to consider. So is this the car for you?

When is a Flat Tire a Good Thing?

When is a Flat Tire a Good Thing?
By Terry Price

Are you in the market for some new tires for your ATV? You will find that over time, there's always some changes that you would like to make to your ATV and probably tires will be one of the top choices on your list. Unlike the engine, tires are inclined to wear out faster. There are a number of reasons why you should install new tires on your ATV, such as a safer ride and more comfort, or you simply just like the machine but want different tires. You should be asking yourself the following questions. What type of surface will I be riding on and what type of riding do I prefer to do? Am I a fast or slow rider? Will I be riding in lots of sand, mud or snow, or maybe I enjoy just some smooth riding on a clear path. Will I be competing, doing hill climbs, flat track racing, or MX racing?

It is fairly common to see experienced riders having more than one set of tires. Purchasing the correct width of tire for the rim size you have is crucial as more narrow ones could possibly come off the rim. Do you want a round tire or a flat tire? The best way to determine that is to walk around the back of your ATV and look at the top of the tire. When it is fully inflated, is it rounded or flat on the top? A flat tire has more rubber on the road and will have much less tendency to roll under hard cornering.

The next question you need to ask yourself is, do I need a short or a tall tire? Does your machine offer you lots of ground clearance or will a taller tire lift the ATV higher off the ground to give you a softer ride? One consideration when it comes to purchasing a taller tire is that they usually have more sidewall flex and will give you the feeling of being loose during hard cornering. A shorter tire will give you more stability during hard cornering at high speeds, without sacrificing ground clearance and your ride maybe a little bit more bumpy. There are many different types of tread patterns to choose from, so it all depends on your budget and the types of terrain that you are going to be riding on. Try to choose that which will work under all general conditions, or if money is no object, you can buy sand tires, trail tires, or mud tires.

It was in June 28, 1926 when Daimler-Benz was founded resulting from the merging of Benz & Cie. and Daimler Motoren Gesellschaft (DMG).

The Benz & Cie. was one of the most important companies founded by Karl Benz in 1871. DMG on the other hand was founded by Gottlieb Daimler and his partner Wilhem Maybach in 1890, unfortunately when Daimler died in 1900 and Maybach left DMG in 1907, the two companies ended as rivals.

Then in the year 1924 after World War I, the two companies entered into an agreement of mutual interest wherein each company is allowed to manufacture and sell their products under their original brand names. The said agreement was valid until 2000. The brand Mercedes-Benz was created and used after the 1926 official merger.

It was in the year 1998 when Daimler-Benz and Chrysler have agreed to merge their business under the guise of merger of equals which created the DaimlerChrysler AG.

Car Auctions Explained

Car Auctions Explained
By Joseph Hanoa

Car auctions in some ways sound very exciting. In other ways they seem to be rather terrifying. There are car auctions taking place every day in some part of the country and online. They will usually be announced in your local newspaper. The ad will state where the auction is and where the cars can be viewed prior to the auction. You can view the cars in the viewing period, find out which ones you are interested in and try to obtain as much information as you can about the cars you are interested in prior to submitting bids. You would like to have a mechanic check out the car and you would like to test drive the car. However, these are options that are unavailable to you when you buy a car at an auction. So you try to do the best check that you can under the circumstances.

One of the things that you can do is to copy down the VIN number. You can then use the internet to check the history of the car. Was it involved in an accident? How serious? Was it involved in a flood? The report will give you this kind of information and only costs a few dollars. When you buy a car at an auction, you are buying it in an as is condition. There are no guarantees and no returns. It is purely caveat emptor, or let the buyer beware.

You can still obtain a good deal at a car auction. You should also be aware that you will be bidding against used car dealers and experienced bidders so you want to have an idea of used car values before you bid. You should do your homework before going to the auction. The same is true for online auctions. Cars sold at online auctions will also have a viewing period. You will have to go to the location where the car is offered for viewing in order to see it so you might not want to get involved in car auctions that are on the opposite coast unless you are a professional.

Before taking part in any kind of auction, online or in person, make sure you know the rules and procedures. You dont want to scratch your nose and discover youve bid on a Ferrari! All rules and procedures can be obtained prior to the auction date. The online auctions have their rules and procedures on their websites.

10 MORE Tips For Saving Cash On Your Gas

10 MORE Tips For Saving Cash On Your Gas
By Pete Lance

Learn some of the best tips to get optimum gas mileage. Here weve compiled 10 more tips to help you stretch your dollar at the gas station!

If you have not seen our previous article (10 Tips For Saving Cash On Your Gas), you might want to do a search for it on our website (http://www.usgastracker.org) or on Google.

Alright, on to the tips!

Tip 1: Watch Your Gas
You should be aware of the amount of fuel you use. Notice your car's performance, such as the mileage per gallon. When fuel efficiency decreases, your car may need servicing.

Tip 2: Buy Gas from a Busy Station
A gas station that is consistently busy has to refill its underground tanks regularly. Slower stations that don't refill as often may have stale contaminated gas in its underground tanks, and this contamination will affect your fuel economy.

Tip 3: Turn the Nozzle
After you have finished filling up your tank, you should twist the gas pump nozzle a full 180 degrees. This will drain a bit more gas into your tank, sometimes up to an entire half cup. If you don't do this, the extra gas would just be a bonus to the next gas customer.

Tip 4: Tighten the Gas Cap
Tighten your gas cap until it clicks. This will help prevent the gasoline from evaporating and escaping.

Tip 5: Check Your Cars Tire Pressure
You should check your car's tire pressure regularly. Under inflated tires reduce your car's fuel efficiency, and also causes premature tire wear, affecting the life-span of your tires.

Tip 6: Remove Excess Weight from Your Car
You should remove excess weight from your car. Some people use the car trunk as a storage space, adding unnecessary weight to the car. This will reduce your car's fuel efficiency.

Tip 7: Keep Your Car Tuned-Up
Always keep your car tuned up to ensure optimum performance. Car's that have not been serviced for a long time often have poorer fuel efficiency.

Tip 8: Use Your Car Less
You can try to arrange car pools with co-workers to reduce the cost of getting to work. To save even more, you can drive less and walk, bike or run to your intended destination, especially if the place is nearby.

Tip 9: Change Your Work Start Time
If it is possible, change your work start and end time to avoid traffic congestions. Stopping and going affects your gas mileage.

Tip 10: Dont Fill Up When the Price is High
Lastly, when the price is high, don't fill up. You should wait for the prices to go down before you fill up, especially if your gas tank is more than half full. Filling up when the price is high tells the gas companies that people are willing to pay ridiculous prices for gasoline.

A Century of Harley Davidson Legacy

A Century of Harley Davidson Legacy
By Low Jeremy

The beginning of the Harley-Davidson Motor Company in 1903 was very impressive. The founders, Bill Harley and Arthur Walter Davidson, began at a prototype with a small engine- so weak that it cannot conquer the Milwaukee hills. But, all things must have started from small beginnings. And that was exactly what happened to the Harley-Davidson Motor Company. Schoolboys, as they can be considered, Bill and Arthur may have been born to give contribution to the motor industry.

The concept of the first Harley-Davidson motorcycle was very advanced at that time considering that fact that these two individuals were living in the period where horses were still the main form of transportation and automobiles were still developing. Bill and Arthur lived in an era where motorcycles were still in infant stage. What was more surprising was that, Bill and Arthur were still too young to be founders of a company then.

The prototype may be considered a success but could not produce more power to be efficient in hills. As resourceful as they were, Bill and Arthur made stronger engines that produced more power and speed.

That very same year, Harley-Davidson made its very first sale. Two years later they had made 11 motorcycles. And in 1908, they had made 154.

As the years went by, the company had produced and sold more and more units. Harley-Davidson, which started at a small backyard of a modest home, grew to become a motorcycle empire in a very short span of time.

Innovations after innovations and awards after awards, Harley-Davidson Motors had increased its reputation as the leader in the motorcycle industry.

Harley-Davidson was one of the 2 motor companies that had been commissioned to mass-produce motorcycles for the government to be used for First World War and the Second World War as well.

Within the 100 years of the companys existence, they had been challenged with so many trials. The companys sale went off in some periods but they regained on the next. The companys quality had been compromised but they had regained it. And like the toughness of the motorcycles they built, the company had remained tough.

After more than a century of motorcycle manufacturing, Harley-Davidson is among the most sought after motorcycle brands around the world. They have created several models that are truly world-class. Harley-Davidson will continue to manufacture quality motorcycles that are indeed an exiting machine to ride.

Finding A Classic Car For Sale

Finding A Classic Car For Sale
By Harvey Ong

Car collectors come in all shapes and sizes, not to mention demeanors and habits. Some collectors are content with one or two treasured pieces in their collection. Others, however, are more voracious and want to have as many as they can afford in their garages. The latter category always seem to be looking for that a specific classic car for sale; something they don't have but want to add to their ever-expanding collections. A classic car for sale is not all that hard to find, especially now that there are hundreds of classic car listings and websites for a prospective buyer to look through.

The first place to look when one seeks a classic car for sale is, naturally, online. There are several websites that cater to this market, each one having extensive listings of classics for sale, including such models as the 1971 Dodge Challenger 383, or the 1966 Ford Bronco. Most websites that cater to the classic car market have special options in their search system to help narrow down the results. Typically, these take the form of additional parameters, such as what year the car was made, which manufacturer is preferred, the location of the seller, and the zip code. These options help prospective buyers to find exactly what they are looking for at the budged that they have. For the most part, the ads on websites have pictures of the car being put on sale, in order to attract more potential buyers and show that the car is, indeed, in good aesthetic condition.

For those who have more time on their hands, the classic car for sale websites usually have their own real-world counterparts. These counterparts generally take the form of classified ads or magazine-like listings that collectors can subscribe to. The core of the concept is still there, though there are a few minor differences. One obvious difference is that these listings do not have the search feature that is so prominent on websites. The system the listings make use of is made as simple as possible by listing the cars alphabetically. However, the listings still include all the details that the sellers provide them, which includes pictures, for the most part. Other bits of common information between the two are contact information for the seller, the asking price, the make and model of the car, and the general condition of the car. Optional pieces of information are how many times it has been driven, the mileage accumulated, a general summary of the car's history, and any other piece of information that the seller may choose to divulge in the ad. One drawback of the listings is that they are not as up-to-date as their website counterparts are, due mainly to the nature and differences of the two different media involved.

Regardless of which method a collector uses, a classic car for sale is still something that he will seek out. There are as many people out there willing to give up their prized Impala or Cadillac as there are willing to pay good money to take it off their hands. It may take some time looking but eventually, if a classic car for sale is what you're looking for, you will inevitably find it in one listing or another.

#1 Problem for New Car Buyers

#1 Problem for New Car Buyers
By Al Hearn

Recent reports by automotive industry legal insiders say the top problem that gets car dealers into legal trouble is rolling negative equity into a new car loan or lease without telling customers.

Rolling negative equity from an old auto loan into a new loan or lease is not illegal. But it is if the customer doesn't know it's happening and isn't told. Unfortunately, many new and inexperienced car buyers don't understand negative equity and don't ask about it.

Negative equity is the difference between a vehicle's current market value, or trade-in value, and the outstanding balance on the customer's loan. In these days of long-term loans with little or no down payment, it's common for car buyers to be upside down for nearly the entire time they're paying off the loan.

Car dealers advertise that they will pay off your old loan, no matter what you still owe. That's true. But what they don't say is that the negative equity from the old loan will simply get rolled into the new loan, effectively creating two loans in one. New car buyers often miss the details of this maneuver, and aren't properly disclosed about it.

Sometimes, dealers mask this problem, and avoid the disclosure, by increasing a vehicle's cash price by the amount of the negative equity. Customers often find out about the problem after the deal is done.

This single problem accounts for the majority of all pending lawsuits against car dealers in the U.S., say the experts.

The problem doesn't always happen intentionally. Because most dealers have no guidlelines or procedures that require the disclosure, it often gets overlooked in the heat of deal negotiations.

Smart consumers will already know if they are upside down on their old loan before they enter a dealer showroom to purchase or lease a new car. They will also know that their negative equity will be combined with any new loan or lease, increasing monthly payments and loan costs. Even when the customer knows what is going on, it is not usually a good thing to do because it creates an even more serious upside down situation with the new loan.

Fred Fuddle is a chronically unemployed local with a reputation for being a loud-mouth degenerate who has a string of convictions for drunken, disorderly conduct.

Fuddle is driving his dilapidated van at a high rate of speed, proceeding East on Elm Street. As you approach the intersection of Main and Elm you have a green light. You proceed through, perking along under the posted speed limit. Too late, Fuddle realizes he has a red light. He hits his brakes, leaving 70 feet of skid marks behind him as he flies into the intersection. The front of his van strikes your left rear with a mighty crash. Your arm hits the steering wheel and the $300.00 watch your spouse gave you for your last birthday is smashed. The Property Damage to your motor vehicle will be determined to be $1,700.

The police investigate at the scene. Fuddle is charged with dangerous driving: You note that this is written up in the Police Report. The ambulance takes you to the Angel Of Mercy Hospital Emergency Room, where youre x-rayed and treated. Diagnosis: A mild to severe strain to the cervical-dorsal area which is known as a Whiplash-Type of injury.

Youre eventually treated by your family physician, Ole Doc Comfort. (You later ask for and receive copies of all medical reports from the Angel Of Mercy and also from Doc Comfort).

As soon as possible, after the impact, you asked you son Chip to return to the scene of the accident and he snapped a dozen close-up photos of the skid marks plus the damages to your motor vehicle and then Fuddles van. Chip very wisely visits the police station where he purchases a copy of the report that the Cruiser Patrolmen wrote at the scene.

YOUR FINAL SPECIAL DAMAGES ARE AS FOLLOWS: Ambulance, Emergency Room, X-Rays, Prescription for pain, Heating Pad, Dr. Comforts bill, plus your Lost Wages. THE FINAL TOTAL OF YOUR SPECIAL DAMAGES COMES TO: $1,831.15.

PROPERTY DAMAGES: Cost to repair your (car - motor vehicle) $1,750.00 plus the provable replacement of your wrist watch $300.00. TOTAL PROPERTY DAMAGE LOSS: $2,050.00.

Using the Formula (as detailed by BASE which is found in my book AUTO ACCIDENT PERSONAL INJURY INSURANCE CLAIM) you determine that the value of your Personal Injury claim falls into the 4 areas provided by THE BASE FORMULA and (in your particular situation) they are: THE PREMIUM VALUE $7,324.60, THE MEAN VALUE $6,408.02 THE CORE VALUE $5,493.00 and a LOW VALUE $3,680.00.

Your case has a number of positive factors that fall on your side of the evaluation ledger, such as: #1. Fred Fuddle is far from being a model citizen. #2. He was driving his vehicle much too fast, as evidenced by the skid marks Chip capture on film. #3. The police cited Fuddle for operating his van in a dangerous manner, as proved by the copy of the Police Report you now have in your possession.

Ole Doc Comforts report (which you have a copy of) indicates you sustained a Whiplash-Type injury to the cervical-dorsal area. Following Doc Comforts instructions (as written into his report) you purchased a heating pad (a copy of the bill you have for proof) which you used for 5 days to help relieve your Pain and Suffering. In addition to the hospital bills, youve also kept copies of the pain killer prescription drugs that Doc Comfort insisted you must take.

Now, enough time has passed for you to sit down with Insurance Adjuster I. M. Smart of GRANITE MOUNTAIN INSURANCE CORPORATION. Smart knows the potential of your developing more physical problems (which can be tied into the accident) is much greater because of your age. No matter which way Smart would like to slice your cake hes aware that you went through a ton of inconvenience plus a solid period of Pain and Suffering which has been sustained within the confines of Doc Comforts written report.

As detailed in THE BASE FORMULA your Personal Injury claim positions itself in the area of THE PREMIUM VALUE. You must aim for a settlement as close to this figure as possible. PLUS the $1,750 Property Damage of your motor vehicle and also the $300 to replace your new wristwatch.

How one can and must proceed to do this (plus THE BASE FORMULA) is detailed in my third and latest book AUTO ACCIDENT PERSONAL INJURY INSURANCE CLAIM (How To Evaluate And Settle Your Loss) found on the internet at http://www.caraccidentclaims.com or http://www.autoaccidentclaims.com.

07 Number Plates Go On Sale

07 Number Plates Go On Sale
By Adam Croft

James Bond fans will have a lot of fun finding new number plate combinations, with some examples including AO07 FAN surely the ultimate plate for any James Bond fan. Other interesting combinations include SH07 GUN and the rather raunch HO07 ERS. Meanwhile, CL07 HES, CL07 HED or LE07 ARD would be an ideal piece of marketing for anyone running a clothing business, and BR07 HER would make an excellent gift for a wonderful brother.

The new UK number plates system came into force in 2001, when the end of the old prefix series was reached. The first two letters in the new series of registrations are the area identifier. Each issuing authority will have its own area identifier(s), which denote the area in which the number plate was issued. The two numbers which follow are the age identifer. The first digit relates to the month in which the registration was issued 0 is March, whilst 5 denotes a September issue. The second digit refers to the year of issue. So, KC56 means the number plate was issued in Luton in the September 2006 allocation. The last three letters are a purely random combination.

For more information on the UK number plate system and on number plates in general, you may want to take a look at the number plates club at Numberplates.com. The website contains a wealth of information and articles about all aspects of personalised number plates from around the world. Why not make your own suggestions for 07 number plates in the forum?

Used Charter Bus Sales

Used Charter Bus Sales
By Jen Carter

Since there are no large national operators that own buses and offer consumers bus travel services, bus market, including the charter one, is given to private companies. In fact, there are over five thousands of them in the North America. This makes both used charter bus sales and service markets pretty competitive ones. Therefore, finding good used charter bus sales can provide local companies with certain business advantages in building up their bus fleets and furthering their businesses. Thus, let us take a look at some of the things you should search for selecting used charter bus sales and at some of the things most of your clients are interested in, resorting to your charter bus services.

First of all, before you engage in used charter bus sales search, you should learn the answer to one of your major business questions. That is why people choose to travel by charter buses. According to statistics, buses are considered to be very safe type of transportation. Traveling by bus is many times safer than flying or traveling by car. Thus, looking for used charter bus sales options, you should keep this in mind. For, even though purchasing used charter buses can be much cheaper than buying new ones, you should never neglect the safety factor when selecting used charter bus for sales. Another key factor for your clients to consider is the technical state of your charter buses. For, you can provide quality over the road services only if the used charter bus sales you select are in good condition and will not break down on the road. Otherwise, often bus break downs may completely ruin your company reputation. Besides, before chartering your buses many consumers may wish to know if your company has its own bus maintenance programs, which is very necessary when considering an option of finding used charter bus sales.

Another key factor for your clients when making their bus company choice is the cost effectiveness of charter bus travel. This means that the fleet of your buses has to provide them with low gas expenditures. Thus, it is another issue to consider when searching for used charter bus sales. The buses you buy should not be too old and overusing gasoline. Otherwise, they will not produce enough profit for your company.

Now, there are 8 major types of buses one can find in used charter bus sales listings. Those are Deluxe Motorcoaches, School Buses, Executive Coach/Day Coaches, Limo Buses, Double Deckers, Minibuses, Entertainer/Sleeper/Tour Buses, Trolleys and vans. They all differ by their passenger seat capacity and luggage compartment space. However, besides the size of a charter bus most clients would also look at the charter bus amenities you offer. Thus, no matter what type of used charter bus sales you select, the vehicle has to have at least some of these amenities: restrooms with or without a sink, entertainment devices, such as TV/VCR, radio, CD players, air conditioners, fringes, wheel chair elevators, automatic door openers, etc.

Top Tips For Choosing Your Breakdown Cover

Top Tips For Choosing Your Breakdown Cover
By Louis Rix

Until quite recently the choices for breakdown cover where limited to two major companies, the AA and the RAC. Even today they are the two most popular choices of motorists. However there are others creeping in, for example Green Flag from the supermarket Tesco is just one of those bringing more competition to the market.

With the average cost of breakdown cover costing around 35 and the typical cost of recovery being around 70 then it could be worthwhile taking out motor breakdown cover.

When choosing cover there are a few things you should take into account before selecting which provider to go with. For example, the average response time to reach you should be around 20 to 40 minutes so it is worthwhile checking this out.

If you go beyond anything but the very basic cover then it can get quite complicated. However typical things you can watch out for include whether the policy includes home recovery. This means that your car will be repaired should it break down while at home or near your home.

Is the cost of alternative transport included in your policy? For example, if your car cannot be fixed immediately, do you get a hire car or will the company transport you to your destination?

Does the price include the breakdown service getting in touch with friends or family members to let them know you are stranded and will be late?

Also, look out for whether the policy is vehicle based or people based. Some of the larger providers offer this type of cover. If vehicle based, then it is the car that has the cover, no matter who the driver. If it is people based, then the person who is covered could be in any vehicle when they call out the breakdown cover.

And finally, does the cover include the cost of breakdown if you are on the continent?Once you have checked out the cover and you can make an educated choice as to which of the options best suits your circumstances.

Checking Your Car

Checking Your Car
By Kum Martin

Heres the low down on checking out the used car that you have finally set your eyes on. Take a look at the following points before you decide to take it out on a test drive.

Lean down and look down the side of the car check for dents and dimples.Check the bumper cars for scratches and look at the wheel hubs for dents and scratches.

Is the car too shiny? This may mean that the car dealer or seller or trying to hide something. This also implies to the engine bay, an engine bay should be slightly dusty and have grime on it. If the engine is sparkling clean you can be sure that the car has oil or coolant leaks.

Take your hand and run it under every door panel, under the wheel-arches and check the bumper edges. These are the likely areas where rust will first appear.

Check the tires on the car. Check not only the thread, also check to see if the tires are original or retreads. Uneven wear is a telltale sign of suspension problems.

Does the interior smell? Smoke smell will have smoke stains on the fabrics and the smell will be embedded in the ventilation filters. A musty smell may indicate water leakage.

How does the seat upholstery, pedals and console wear look? Does it look appropriate to the cars mileage?

Press every button on the console and make sure the function works. Listen for any rattles in the console and ventilation fans. Turn off the engine then switch it to AC to check the engine and onboard computer warning lamps are working properly.

Turn on the hazard lamps, headlamps and press the brake pedal. Ask your friend to inspect the exterior lighting to ensure that all are working properly especially the brake lamps.

Now take the car on a test drive. Listen intently, look at the warning lamps, feel the steering and handling, sniff for any smells open the window and listen for engines ticks, rattles or fluid smells that may come for the warming engine bay.

Spinning Rims Will Add All The Flash That You Crave For Your Vehicle

Spinning Rims Will Add All The Flash That You Crave For Your Vehicle
By Kevin Brown

Have you fixed up your car just the way you want it? You have the flashy paint job, and the pumping stereo, now what about the wheels? If you are looking for a bit more flash to add to your wheels, then you need spinning rims for your ride. Spinning rims are a hot way to add some pizzazz to your car and really draw some attention to your tires.

Spinning rims were popularized with the hip hop movement and have since grown more and more popular with car lovers everywhere. Spinning rims, or spinners as they are often called are so impressive looking on a vehicle because they give the illusion that the wheels are still spinning even when the car is at a complete stop.

Spinners work because of centrifugal force. Basically when the vehicle is running and driving, the spinning rims are moving slower than the tire itself, and sometimes the rims stop moving completely. But when the vehicle stops at a light, the rims continue moving while the wheel is stopped, this gives the illusion that the wheels are still moving.

Spinning rims will truly make a vehicle look amazing; they just add that special final touch to an already flashy car. If you are looking at getting spinners you might be wondering what kind to get for your vehicle.

The first thing to consider when you decide to go ahead and pick out spinners is to find out the maximum wheel size for your vehicle. Some manufactures make all sizes of spinning rims, while others specialize in only certain sizes. Spinning rims typically come in the sizes 18 20 22 23 and 24.

Many spinning rims are simply attachments that work with the existing custom wheels on your vehicle. If you are buying spinners that are attachments, they basically attach to the wheels with special lug nuts. The rims bolt into the wheel using special bolts that attach to the lug nuts which then allows for mounting of the spinning rims.

If you want spinner rims then you should be sure that you have a rear wheel drive vehicle. A rear wheel drive is important because the wheels are deep enough for the spinners to fit inside. It is important that the spinners do not sit outside of the wheel, because they could cause damage to the wheel or even the vehicle itself. And most importantly, spinners that sit outside of the wheel could be dangerous. Front wheel drive cars normally do not have wheels that have enough room for the spinner attachments to sit inside, therefore they will sit out.

But do not despair if you have a front wheel drive vehicle, you can still have the flashy addition of spinning rims. There are certain brands, such as Diablo that manufactures a front wheel drive custom wheel that is offset and allows for the use of spinners. You can also choose a package of custom wheels and spinners instead of purchasing them separately.

Besides the spinners that come as attachments, you can also buy spinning rims combined with the wheels. Dub and Omega are examples of popular brands that sell combination packages. Dub sells packages that will work with front wheel vehicles as well, so that you can put spinning rims on your front wheel car and not worry about damage or danger.

You can purchase spinning rims individually as an attachment component or as a package with wheels and even with tires as well. The prices of spinners can range fairly dramatically from a few hundred dollars up to over $11,000 for an entire set of four spinners with tires. The prices vary depending on if you are buying a complete package, or simply an attachment component. Also, the size of the wheel that you require will affect the price as well.

There are many popular brands of spinning rims that you can choose from. Some of the best and most popular brands are Dub, Diablo, Spintek, Davin, Latrell Sprewell, Omega and Excess. Whatever brand you choose be sure that your rims have high quality bearings and are manufactured well to ensure the best possible performance and a long life for your spinners.

There are many different ways for you to buy spinning rims and one of the easiest ways to shop for and purchase spinners is by using the internet. On the internet you will have access to hundreds of different stores that specialize in selling spinning rims and other car accessories. On the web you will be able to browse through many different styles of rims, different colors, and different configurations. You will also be able to easily check out a large number of manufactures all in one place.

One of the biggest concerns when you buy something large on the internet is how you will have it shipped to you. When you buy spinning rims on the internet from one of the many online dealers, you are likely to get free shipping. Remember when you choose a seller, to choose one that has a high rating, and it is best to get personal recommendations. But if you cannot get a recommendation that be sure that the seller you choose offers a satisfaction guarantee and a warranty.

There is a lot to consider when you are shopping for spinning rims. However the bottom line is that you want your car, truck or SUV to look amazing. And with spinners, your vehicle will look flashy and you are sure to catch everyones attention no matter what style or brand you choose.

Lease VS Buy A Car Always Lease It First And Save Money

Lease VS Buy A Car, Always Lease It First And Save Money
By Ralph Hoffmann

Lease a Car First and Buy it Later
Save lots of money. Analysis about buying or leasing a new car isn't necessary as long as cars are a glut on the market.

To own any car for the least possible price and dread doing a lease vs. buy analyses, don't buy the car; lease it then buy it later and save a lot of money.

Exploit the Glut of Cars for Sale
As long as car production is greater than consumption, and big discounts are available for several years to come, just read the market trends and lease it first and ignore all those lease vs. buy programs.

In the past, car manufacturers moved cars by subsidizing leases. The monthly lease cost was lowered by increasing the residual value, which lowered the monthly lease payment, thereby selling (leasing) more cars.

Lease Residual Values are Inflated in your Favor
But the value of the vehicle at the end of the lease was almost always less than the contracted residual and each of the off-lease cars then had to be sold in the wholesale market at a loss of several thousand dollars.

Some of the big backers of lease financing, Chrysler, some New York banks, and others, each lost several hundred million dollars in each of the past two or three years because they had to sell the off-lease cars on the open market for less than the residual value.

Take Advantage of Too Many Cars for Sale
Therefore the buy or lease a new car decision is moot as long as manufacturers are subsidizing leases because they have too many cars to sell; a one-time opportunity is present, namely:, lease it now and buy it at a discount the end of the lease and save thousands of dollars.

Having to make a lease vs. buy decision is no longer necessary as long as supply exceeds demand and the old rules are now dictated by a surplus of cars< on the market, this is the time of opportunity for an car buyer.

Compounding the problem for the heavily unionized manufacturers is that their labor contracts are so juicy that those car manufacturers are better off continuing to give away cars rather than to close a plant and pay unaffordable health and welfare and pension benefits to laid off employees.

This Opportunity will only last for Two or Three more Years.
This situation will not change for several years until consolidation, plant closings, or bankruptcies have cured the problem. until the. Plant closings will be a last resort.

Therefore the glut of new cars will likely continue for a few years. Now is the prime time to consider taking advantage of a declining resale value of most cars. The subsidized lease will continue to be offered

Should I Buy or Lease a New Car
By initially leasing a car, the maker is essentially offering a price that cant be beaten. It may actually approach or be lower than the employee cost widely advertised. Then buy the car at the end of the lease.

At the end of the car lease the company financially backing the lease most likely will sell the car on the open market at a loss. Why not intervene at that point and buy the car for less than the residual value and put that loss into your pocket as money saved?

Check out your Car's Used Car Value Prior to Lease End
About three months before the end of the lease, cruise the used car lots and notice what your car is being offered at. Note tha the used carprice is always higher than the resiudal value to allow for dealr costs and profit. A ten percent cushion is not unreasonable.

Then compare the asking price on the used car lot with the residual value in your lease contract. The residual value may be larger than the asking price for a similar model on the used car lot. That means that the company owning your leased car will have to sell it at a loss when you turn it in.

Now you put in the knife and buy the car (no commissions paid to anyone on this transaction) at the end of the Lease and keep several thousand dollars in your pocket.

Bypass the Dealer to make your Buyout Offer
From your dealer, get the phone number of the company that owns the car you leased. Call them and offer to buy your leased car for the asking price on the used car lot less about 10% at least.

If they object, point out that they will have to sell the car at a loss because the residual value is more than what the car is worth on the used car lot. They know that, but hate to admit it.

So lease the car of your dreams today and forget about excess mileage charges.

A true-life example
A business friend of mine had a three-year-old leased car with a contract residual value of $28,000. Looking at the used car lot he found he could buy one just like it for $24,000. He assumed the company that financed the lease would loose at least $2,000 in selling it for less than the contracted residual value.

Through the dealer he offered $22,000 to buy the car as is and his offer was promptly accepted, including 3%, 3 year financing. His dealings, all by phone (no face to face negotiations needed) were with the company financing the lease. To buy any car, or Van or SUV or Light truck, by all means consider the idea of lease vs. buy as your answer.

RV Tire Protection

RV Tire Protection
By Warren Hull

Very few RV tires actually wear out. Most of them rot out due at least partially to the sun. The sun's UV rays are persistently working away at the tire rubber. This deterioration leads to cracks in the sidewalls and tread areas. When these cracks get bad enough, your tire gives up. The result is at best a flat tire, at worst, a blowout. All of us have seen rigs along side the road with shredded tires.

Too often, the damage is not just the tire, but also damage to the rig. Sometimes, the end result is loss of control and a crash. It is important to actually inspect your tires for proper inflation and condition each trip out. If you have any doubts, go to your trusted tire supplier for an inspection. The life you save might be mine.

You cant stop tire deterioration, but you can sure slow it down. Just like you protect your skin from the sun, you can protect your tires from the sun. One of the best methods is to keep your tires out of the sun. How? Cover your tires. There are vinyl tire covers that wrap around the tire. There are flat tire covers that attach to the side of your rig and drape over the tires. The wrap around are less expensive, but more difficult to install. The flat allow air to circulate, match the rig better, easier to install especially without getting your sleeves dirty, but cost more. Plywood can be leaned up against them, but it does look tacky. Some chemical compounds can be applied like sun tan lotion. Not all work equally. In fact, some tire companies speak out against them. There are some that probably do more damage than good.

Actual use of your rig promotes tire longevity. The flexing of the tire through use actually releases some of the internal rubber compounds. These components help protect the tire. There is nothing like another reason to use your RV. If your RV is going to be parked for an extended period of time, then use a vapor barrier between the concrete or asphalt and your tire.

A major cause of tire failure is under inflation. Follow the instructions and inflate your tires to the proper pressure for your RV weight. Check the pressure when the tires are cold. Buy a decent tire pressure gauge from your local auto parts store. They are cheap when compared to the price of a tire. If you are not sure of the right pressure, your local tire store can help you. A tire failure leaves you stranded by the side of the road. A blow out usually damages your RV. Avoid the problem as much as possible.

Your tires are an important part of your rig. Once you have done what you can, then get out there and enjoy your travels. There are lots to see and many places to visit. Do it!
