MercedesBenz New VicePresident of Customer Services

Mercedes-Benz New Vice-President of Customer Services
By Dwayne Thomas

Mercedes-Benz USA has announced recently the appointment of Alan McLaren as vice-president of customer services effective immediately. McLaren succeeded Klaus Ulkann who is retiring from the company after its 30 years tenure with DaimlerChrysler organization with the seven years spent with Mercedes-Benz USA.

McLaren, being the new vice-president of customer services will be responsible for all operations relating to customers, engineering services, after-sales marketing & logistics and the MBUSAs award-winning customer assistance center.

Why was McLaren chosen for the position? McLaren has had eight years of experience with DaimlerChrysler abroad. And just recently, he also served as managing director for all the owned retail operations of DaimlerChrysler both in Australia and Pacific region. His scope of responsibilities also includes sales, service, and parts operations of Mercedes-Benz passenger car dealerships, body shops, and commercial vehicle dealerships.

McLaren has also spent three years working as senior executive and general manager for DaimlerChrysler Truck Group. It was in the year 1999 when McLaren started his career with DaimlerChrysler first as senior manager for Freightliner Trucks for DC Australia/Pacific in Melbourne.

McLaren is a graduate of Australian Institute of Management and hold a degree in sales and marketing. He is a native of Australia but relocate to Mahwah, New Jersey. Mercedes-Benz USA is the subsidiary that is tasked with the sales, service, and marketing of all Maybach and Mercedes-Benz products in United States.

Mercedes-Benz is a German brand name for buses, coaches, automobiles, trucks and auto parts like its line of Mercedes air filters which includes Mercedes performance air filter created originally for Daimler-Benz AG but now owned by DaimlerChrysler AG. It was in June 28, 1926 when Daimler-Benz was founded resulting from the merging of Benz & Cie. and Daimler Motoren Gesellschaft (DMG).

The Benz & Cie. was one of the most important companies founded by Karl Benz in 1871. DMG on the other hand was founded by Gottlieb Daimler and his partner Wilhem Maybach in 1890, unfortunately when Daimler died in 1900 and Maybach left DMG in 1907, the two companies ended as rivals.

Then in the year 1924 after World War I, the two companies entered into an agreement of mutual interest wherein each company is allowed to manufacture and sell their products under their original brand names. The said agreement was valid until 2000. The brand Mercedes-Benz was created and used after the 1926 official merger.

It was in the year 1998 when Daimler-Benz and Chrysler have agreed to merge their business under the guise of merger of equals which created the DaimlerChrysler AG.

Car Auctions Explained

Car Auctions Explained
By Joseph Hanoa

Car auctions in some ways sound very exciting. In other ways they seem to be rather terrifying. There are car auctions taking place every day in some part of the country and online. They will usually be announced in your local newspaper. The ad will state where the auction is and where the cars can be viewed prior to the auction. You can view the cars in the viewing period, find out which ones you are interested in and try to obtain as much information as you can about the cars you are interested in prior to submitting bids. You would like to have a mechanic check out the car and you would like to test drive the car. However, these are options that are unavailable to you when you buy a car at an auction. So you try to do the best check that you can under the circumstances.

One of the things that you can do is to copy down the VIN number. You can then use the internet to check the history of the car. Was it involved in an accident? How serious? Was it involved in a flood? The report will give you this kind of information and only costs a few dollars. When you buy a car at an auction, you are buying it in an as is condition. There are no guarantees and no returns. It is purely caveat emptor, or let the buyer beware.

You can still obtain a good deal at a car auction. You should also be aware that you will be bidding against used car dealers and experienced bidders so you want to have an idea of used car values before you bid. You should do your homework before going to the auction. The same is true for online auctions. Cars sold at online auctions will also have a viewing period. You will have to go to the location where the car is offered for viewing in order to see it so you might not want to get involved in car auctions that are on the opposite coast unless you are a professional.

Before taking part in any kind of auction, online or in person, make sure you know the rules and procedures. You dont want to scratch your nose and discover youve bid on a Ferrari! All rules and procedures can be obtained prior to the auction date. The online auctions have their rules and procedures on their websites.

10 MORE Tips For Saving Cash On Your Gas

10 MORE Tips For Saving Cash On Your Gas
By Pete Lance

Learn some of the best tips to get optimum gas mileage. Here weve compiled 10 more tips to help you stretch your dollar at the gas station!

If you have not seen our previous article (10 Tips For Saving Cash On Your Gas), you might want to do a search for it on our website (http://www.usgastracker.org) or on Google.

Alright, on to the tips!

Tip 1: Watch Your Gas
You should be aware of the amount of fuel you use. Notice your car's performance, such as the mileage per gallon. When fuel efficiency decreases, your car may need servicing.

Tip 2: Buy Gas from a Busy Station
A gas station that is consistently busy has to refill its underground tanks regularly. Slower stations that don't refill as often may have stale contaminated gas in its underground tanks, and this contamination will affect your fuel economy.

Tip 3: Turn the Nozzle
After you have finished filling up your tank, you should twist the gas pump nozzle a full 180 degrees. This will drain a bit more gas into your tank, sometimes up to an entire half cup. If you don't do this, the extra gas would just be a bonus to the next gas customer.

Tip 4: Tighten the Gas Cap
Tighten your gas cap until it clicks. This will help prevent the gasoline from evaporating and escaping.

Tip 5: Check Your Cars Tire Pressure
You should check your car's tire pressure regularly. Under inflated tires reduce your car's fuel efficiency, and also causes premature tire wear, affecting the life-span of your tires.

Tip 6: Remove Excess Weight from Your Car
You should remove excess weight from your car. Some people use the car trunk as a storage space, adding unnecessary weight to the car. This will reduce your car's fuel efficiency.

Tip 7: Keep Your Car Tuned-Up
Always keep your car tuned up to ensure optimum performance. Car's that have not been serviced for a long time often have poorer fuel efficiency.

Tip 8: Use Your Car Less
You can try to arrange car pools with co-workers to reduce the cost of getting to work. To save even more, you can drive less and walk, bike or run to your intended destination, especially if the place is nearby.

Tip 9: Change Your Work Start Time
If it is possible, change your work start and end time to avoid traffic congestions. Stopping and going affects your gas mileage.

Tip 10: Dont Fill Up When the Price is High
Lastly, when the price is high, don't fill up. You should wait for the prices to go down before you fill up, especially if your gas tank is more than half full. Filling up when the price is high tells the gas companies that people are willing to pay ridiculous prices for gasoline.

One last tip: Sign up for a free daily email with the lowest gas prices for your zip code.http://www.usgastracker.org

A Century of Harley Davidson Legacy

A Century of Harley Davidson Legacy
By Low Jeremy

The beginning of the Harley-Davidson Motor Company in 1903 was very impressive. The founders, Bill Harley and Arthur Walter Davidson, began at a prototype with a small engine- so weak that it cannot conquer the Milwaukee hills. But, all things must have started from small beginnings. And that was exactly what happened to the Harley-Davidson Motor Company. Schoolboys, as they can be considered, Bill and Arthur may have been born to give contribution to the motor industry.

The concept of the first Harley-Davidson motorcycle was very advanced at that time considering that fact that these two individuals were living in the period where horses were still the main form of transportation and automobiles were still developing. Bill and Arthur lived in an era where motorcycles were still in infant stage. What was more surprising was that, Bill and Arthur were still too young to be founders of a company then.

The prototype may be considered a success but could not produce more power to be efficient in hills. As resourceful as they were, Bill and Arthur made stronger engines that produced more power and speed.

That very same year, Harley-Davidson made its very first sale. Two years later they had made 11 motorcycles. And in 1908, they had made 154.

As the years went by, the company had produced and sold more and more units. Harley-Davidson, which started at a small backyard of a modest home, grew to become a motorcycle empire in a very short span of time.

Innovations after innovations and awards after awards, Harley-Davidson Motors had increased its reputation as the leader in the motorcycle industry.

Harley-Davidson was one of the 2 motor companies that had been commissioned to mass-produce motorcycles for the government to be used for First World War and the Second World War as well.

Within the 100 years of the companys existence, they had been challenged with so many trials. The companys sale went off in some periods but they regained on the next. The companys quality had been compromised but they had regained it. And like the toughness of the motorcycles they built, the company had remained tough.

After more than a century of motorcycle manufacturing, Harley-Davidson is among the most sought after motorcycle brands around the world. They have created several models that are truly world-class. Harley-Davidson will continue to manufacture quality motorcycles that are indeed an exiting machine to ride.

Finding A Classic Car For Sale

Finding A Classic Car For Sale
By Harvey Ong

Car collectors come in all shapes and sizes, not to mention demeanors and habits. Some collectors are content with one or two treasured pieces in their collection. Others, however, are more voracious and want to have as many as they can afford in their garages. The latter category always seem to be looking for that a specific classic car for sale; something they don't have but want to add to their ever-expanding collections. A classic car for sale is not all that hard to find, especially now that there are hundreds of classic car listings and websites for a prospective buyer to look through.

The first place to look when one seeks a classic car for sale is, naturally, online. There are several websites that cater to this market, each one having extensive listings of classics for sale, including such models as the 1971 Dodge Challenger 383, or the 1966 Ford Bronco. Most websites that cater to the classic car market have special options in their search system to help narrow down the results. Typically, these take the form of additional parameters, such as what year the car was made, which manufacturer is preferred, the location of the seller, and the zip code. These options help prospective buyers to find exactly what they are looking for at the budged that they have. For the most part, the ads on websites have pictures of the car being put on sale, in order to attract more potential buyers and show that the car is, indeed, in good aesthetic condition.

For those who have more time on their hands, the classic car for sale websites usually have their own real-world counterparts. These counterparts generally take the form of classified ads or magazine-like listings that collectors can subscribe to. The core of the concept is still there, though there are a few minor differences. One obvious difference is that these listings do not have the search feature that is so prominent on websites. The system the listings make use of is made as simple as possible by listing the cars alphabetically. However, the listings still include all the details that the sellers provide them, which includes pictures, for the most part. Other bits of common information between the two are contact information for the seller, the asking price, the make and model of the car, and the general condition of the car. Optional pieces of information are how many times it has been driven, the mileage accumulated, a general summary of the car's history, and any other piece of information that the seller may choose to divulge in the ad. One drawback of the listings is that they are not as up-to-date as their website counterparts are, due mainly to the nature and differences of the two different media involved.

Regardless of which method a collector uses, a classic car for sale is still something that he will seek out. There are as many people out there willing to give up their prized Impala or Cadillac as there are willing to pay good money to take it off their hands. It may take some time looking but eventually, if a classic car for sale is what you're looking for, you will inevitably find it in one listing or another.

#1 Problem for New Car Buyers

#1 Problem for New Car Buyers
By Al Hearn

Recent reports by automotive industry legal insiders say the top problem that gets car dealers into legal trouble is rolling negative equity into a new car loan or lease without telling customers.

Rolling negative equity from an old auto loan into a new loan or lease is not illegal. But it is if the customer doesn't know it's happening and isn't told. Unfortunately, many new and inexperienced car buyers don't understand negative equity and don't ask about it.

Negative equity is the difference between a vehicle's current market value, or trade-in value, and the outstanding balance on the customer's loan. In these days of long-term loans with little or no down payment, it's common for car buyers to be upside down for nearly the entire time they're paying off the loan.

Car dealers advertise that they will pay off your old loan, no matter what you still owe. That's true. But what they don't say is that the negative equity from the old loan will simply get rolled into the new loan, effectively creating two loans in one. New car buyers often miss the details of this maneuver, and aren't properly disclosed about it.

Sometimes, dealers mask this problem, and avoid the disclosure, by increasing a vehicle's cash price by the amount of the negative equity. Customers often find out about the problem after the deal is done.

This single problem accounts for the majority of all pending lawsuits against car dealers in the U.S., say the experts.

The problem doesn't always happen intentionally. Because most dealers have no guidlelines or procedures that require the disclosure, it often gets overlooked in the heat of deal negotiations.

Smart consumers will already know if they are upside down on their old loan before they enter a dealer showroom to purchase or lease a new car. They will also know that their negative equity will be combined with any new loan or lease, increasing monthly payments and loan costs. Even when the customer knows what is going on, it is not usually a good thing to do because it creates an even more serious upside down situation with the new loan.

~The Base Formula~ A Settlement Example

~The Base Formula~ A Settlement Example
By Daniel Baldyga

~THE BASE FORMULA ~

A SETTLEMENT EXAMPLE

Because Ive received so many contacts, and questions, regarding BASE (The Baldyga Auto Accident Settlement Evaluation Formula) from the readers of the sensational EzineArticles.com Ive decided to provide you-all with insights (via a Settlement Example) regarding THE BASE FORMULA.

OKAY, SO HERE WE GO: Its 10:00 AM on a clear, dry day. Youre operating your motor vehicle north on Main Street in your home town. Youre 62 years old and the assistant manager of a local video store.

Fred Fuddle is a chronically unemployed local with a reputation for being a loud-mouth degenerate who has a string of convictions for drunken, disorderly conduct.

Fuddle is driving his dilapidated van at a high rate of speed, proceeding East on Elm Street. As you approach the intersection of Main and Elm you have a green light. You proceed through, perking along under the posted speed limit. Too late, Fuddle realizes he has a red light. He hits his brakes, leaving 70 feet of skid marks behind him as he flies into the intersection. The front of his van strikes your left rear with a mighty crash. Your arm hits the steering wheel and the $300.00 watch your spouse gave you for your last birthday is smashed. The Property Damage to your motor vehicle will be determined to be $1,700.

The police investigate at the scene. Fuddle is charged with dangerous driving: You note that this is written up in the Police Report. The ambulance takes you to the Angel Of Mercy Hospital Emergency Room, where youre x-rayed and treated. Diagnosis: A mild to severe strain to the cervical-dorsal area which is known as a Whiplash-Type of injury.

Youre eventually treated by your family physician, Ole Doc Comfort. (You later ask for and receive copies of all medical reports from the Angel Of Mercy and also from Doc Comfort).

As soon as possible, after the impact, you asked you son Chip to return to the scene of the accident and he snapped a dozen close-up photos of the skid marks plus the damages to your motor vehicle and then Fuddles van. Chip very wisely visits the police station where he purchases a copy of the report that the Cruiser Patrolmen wrote at the scene.

YOUR FINAL SPECIAL DAMAGES ARE AS FOLLOWS: Ambulance, Emergency Room, X-Rays, Prescription for pain, Heating Pad, Dr. Comforts bill, plus your Lost Wages. THE FINAL TOTAL OF YOUR SPECIAL DAMAGES COMES TO: $1,831.15.

PROPERTY DAMAGES: Cost to repair your (car - motor vehicle) $1,750.00 plus the provable replacement of your wrist watch $300.00. TOTAL PROPERTY DAMAGE LOSS: $2,050.00.

Using the Formula (as detailed by BASE which is found in my book AUTO ACCIDENT PERSONAL INJURY INSURANCE CLAIM) you determine that the value of your Personal Injury claim falls into the 4 areas provided by THE BASE FORMULA and (in your particular situation) they are: THE PREMIUM VALUE $7,324.60, THE MEAN VALUE $6,408.02 THE CORE VALUE $5,493.00 and a LOW VALUE $3,680.00.

Your case has a number of positive factors that fall on your side of the evaluation ledger, such as: #1. Fred Fuddle is far from being a model citizen. #2. He was driving his vehicle much too fast, as evidenced by the skid marks Chip capture on film. #3. The police cited Fuddle for operating his van in a dangerous manner, as proved by the copy of the Police Report you now have in your possession.

Ole Doc Comforts report (which you have a copy of) indicates you sustained a Whiplash-Type injury to the cervical-dorsal area. Following Doc Comforts instructions (as written into his report) you purchased a heating pad (a copy of the bill you have for proof) which you used for 5 days to help relieve your Pain and Suffering. In addition to the hospital bills, youve also kept copies of the pain killer prescription drugs that Doc Comfort insisted you must take.

Now, enough time has passed for you to sit down with Insurance Adjuster I. M. Smart of GRANITE MOUNTAIN INSURANCE CORPORATION. Smart knows the potential of your developing more physical problems (which can be tied into the accident) is much greater because of your age. No matter which way Smart would like to slice your cake hes aware that you went through a ton of inconvenience plus a solid period of Pain and Suffering which has been sustained within the confines of Doc Comforts written report.

As detailed in THE BASE FORMULA your Personal Injury claim positions itself in the area of THE PREMIUM VALUE. You must aim for a settlement as close to this figure as possible. PLUS the $1,750 Property Damage of your motor vehicle and also the $300 to replace your new wristwatch.

How one can and must proceed to do this (plus THE BASE FORMULA) is detailed in my third and latest book AUTO ACCIDENT PERSONAL INJURY INSURANCE CLAIM (How To Evaluate And Settle Your Loss) found on the internet at http://www.caraccidentclaims.com or http://www.autoaccidentclaims.com.

07 Number Plates Go On Sale

07 Number Plates Go On Sale
By Adam Croft

James Bond fans will have a lot of fun finding new number plate combinations, with some examples including AO07 FAN surely the ultimate plate for any James Bond fan. Other interesting combinations include SH07 GUN and the rather raunch HO07 ERS. Meanwhile, CL07 HES, CL07 HED or LE07 ARD would be an ideal piece of marketing for anyone running a clothing business, and BR07 HER would make an excellent gift for a wonderful brother.

The new UK number plates system came into force in 2001, when the end of the old prefix series was reached. The first two letters in the new series of registrations are the area identifier. Each issuing authority will have its own area identifier(s), which denote the area in which the number plate was issued. The two numbers which follow are the age identifer. The first digit relates to the month in which the registration was issued 0 is March, whilst 5 denotes a September issue. The second digit refers to the year of issue. So, KC56 means the number plate was issued in Luton in the September 2006 allocation. The last three letters are a purely random combination.

For more information on the UK number plate system and on number plates in general, you may want to take a look at the number plates club at Numberplates.com. The website contains a wealth of information and articles about all aspects of personalised number plates from around the world. Why not make your own suggestions for 07 number plates in the forum?

According to statistics, buses are considered to be very safe type of transportation. Traveling by bus is many times safer than flying or traveling by car. Thus, looking for used charter bus sales options, you should keep this in mind. For, even though purchasing used charter buses can be much cheaper than buying new ones, you should never neglect the safety factor when selecting used charter bus for sales. Another key factor for your clients to consider is the technical state of your charter buses. For, you can provide quality over the road services only if the used charter bus sales you select are in good condition and will not break down on the road. Otherwise, often bus break downs may completely ruin your company reputation. Besides, before chartering your buses many consumers may wish to know if your company has its own bus maintenance programs, which is very necessary when considering an option of finding used charter bus sales.

Another key factor for your clients when making their bus company choice is the cost effectiveness of charter bus travel. This means that the fleet of your buses has to provide them with low gas expenditures. Thus, it is another issue to consider when searching for used charter bus sales. The buses you buy should not be too old and overusing gasoline. Otherwise, they will not produce enough profit for your company.

Now, there are 8 major types of buses one can find in used charter bus sales listings. Those are Deluxe Motorcoaches, School Buses, Executive Coach/Day Coaches, Limo Buses, Double Deckers, Minibuses, Entertainer/Sleeper/Tour Buses, Trolleys and vans. They all differ by their passenger seat capacity and luggage compartment space. However, besides the size of a charter bus most clients would also look at the charter bus amenities you offer. Thus, no matter what type of used charter bus sales you select, the vehicle has to have at least some of these amenities: restrooms with or without a sink, entertainment devices, such as TV/VCR, radio, CD players, air conditioners, fringes, wheel chair elevators, automatic door openers, etc.

Top Tips For Choosing Your Breakdown Cover

Top Tips For Choosing Your Breakdown Cover
By Louis Rix

Until quite recently the choices for breakdown cover where limited to two major companies, the AA and the RAC. Even today they are the two most popular choices of motorists. However there are others creeping in, for example Green Flag from the supermarket Tesco is just one of those bringing more competition to the market.

With the average cost of breakdown cover costing around 35 and the typical cost of recovery being around 70 then it could be worthwhile taking out motor breakdown cover.

When choosing cover there are a few things you should take into account before selecting which provider to go with. For example, the average response time to reach you should be around 20 to 40 minutes so it is worthwhile checking this out.

If you go beyond anything but the very basic cover then it can get quite complicated. However typical things you can watch out for include whether the policy includes home recovery. This means that your car will be repaired should it break down while at home or near your home.

Is the cost of alternative transport included in your policy? For example, if your car cannot be fixed immediately, do you get a hire car or will the company transport you to your destination?

Does the price include the breakdown service getting in touch with friends or family members to let them know you are stranded and will be late?

Also, look out for whether the policy is vehicle based or people based. Some of the larger providers offer this type of cover. If vehicle based, then it is the car that has the cover, no matter who the driver. If it is people based, then the person who is covered could be in any vehicle when they call out the breakdown cover.

And finally, does the cover include the cost of breakdown if you are on the continent?Once you have checked out the cover and you can make an educated choice as to which of the options best suits your circumstances.

Checking Your Car

Checking Your Car
By Kum Martin

Heres the low down on checking out the used car that you have finally set your eyes on. Take a look at the following points before you decide to take it out on a test drive.

Lean down and look down the side of the car check for dents and dimples.Check the bumper cars for scratches and look at the wheel hubs for dents and scratches.

Is the car too shiny? This may mean that the car dealer or seller or trying to hide something. This also implies to the engine bay, an engine bay should be slightly dusty and have grime on it. If the engine is sparkling clean you can be sure that the car has oil or coolant leaks.

Take your hand and run it under every door panel, under the wheel-arches and check the bumper edges. These are the likely areas where rust will first appear.

Check the tires on the car. Check not only the thread, also check to see if the tires are original or retreads. Uneven wear is a telltale sign of suspension problems.

Does the interior smell? Smoke smell will have smoke stains on the fabrics and the smell will be embedded in the ventilation filters. A musty smell may indicate water leakage.

How does the seat upholstery, pedals and console wear look? Does it look appropriate to the cars mileage?

Press every button on the console and make sure the function works. Listen for any rattles in the console and ventilation fans. Turn off the engine then switch it to AC to check the engine and onboard computer warning lamps are working properly.

Turn on the hazard lamps, headlamps and press the brake pedal. Ask your friend to inspect the exterior lighting to ensure that all are working properly especially the brake lamps.

Now take the car on a test drive. Listen intently, look at the warning lamps, feel the steering and handling, sniff for any smells open the window and listen for engines ticks, rattles or fluid smells that may come for the warming engine bay.

Spinning Rims Will Add All The Flash That You Crave For Your Vehicle

Spinning Rims Will Add All The Flash That You Crave For Your Vehicle
By Kevin Brown

Have you fixed up your car just the way you want it? You have the flashy paint job, and the pumping stereo, now what about the wheels? If you are looking for a bit more flash to add to your wheels, then you need spinning rims for your ride. Spinning rims are a hot way to add some pizzazz to your car and really draw some attention to your tires.

Spinning rims were popularized with the hip hop movement and have since grown more and more popular with car lovers everywhere. Spinning rims, or spinners as they are often called are so impressive looking on a vehicle because they give the illusion that the wheels are still spinning even when the car is at a complete stop.

Spinners work because of centrifugal force. Basically when the vehicle is running and driving, the spinning rims are moving slower than the tire itself, and sometimes the rims stop moving completely. But when the vehicle stops at a light, the rims continue moving while the wheel is stopped, this gives the illusion that the wheels are still moving.

Spinning rims will truly make a vehicle look amazing; they just add that special final touch to an already flashy car. If you are looking at getting spinners you might be wondering what kind to get for your vehicle.

The first thing to consider when you decide to go ahead and pick out spinners is to find out the maximum wheel size for your vehicle. Some manufactures make all sizes of spinning rims, while others specialize in only certain sizes. Spinning rims typically come in the sizes 18 20 22 23 and 24.

Many spinning rims are simply attachments that work with the existing custom wheels on your vehicle. If you are buying spinners that are attachments, they basically attach to the wheels with special lug nuts. The rims bolt into the wheel using special bolts that attach to the lug nuts which then allows for mounting of the spinning rims.

If you want spinner rims then you should be sure that you have a rear wheel drive vehicle. A rear wheel drive is important because the wheels are deep enough for the spinners to fit inside. It is important that the spinners do not sit outside of the wheel, because they could cause damage to the wheel or even the vehicle itself. And most importantly, spinners that sit outside of the wheel could be dangerous. Front wheel drive cars normally do not have wheels that have enough room for the spinner attachments to sit inside, therefore they will sit out.

But do not despair if you have a front wheel drive vehicle, you can still have the flashy addition of spinning rims. There are certain brands, such as Diablo that manufactures a front wheel drive custom wheel that is offset and allows for the use of spinners. You can also choose a package of custom wheels and spinners instead of purchasing them separately.

Besides the spinners that come as attachments, you can also buy spinning rims combined with the wheels. Dub and Omega are examples of popular brands that sell combination packages. Dub sells packages that will work with front wheel vehicles as well, so that you can put spinning rims on your front wheel car and not worry about damage or danger.

You can purchase spinning rims individually as an attachment component or as a package with wheels and even with tires as well. The prices of spinners can range fairly dramatically from a few hundred dollars up to over $11,000 for an entire set of four spinners with tires. The prices vary depending on if you are buying a complete package, or simply an attachment component. Also, the size of the wheel that you require will affect the price as well.

There are many popular brands of spinning rims that you can choose from. Some of the best and most popular brands are Dub, Diablo, Spintek, Davin, Latrell Sprewell, Omega and Excess. Whatever brand you choose be sure that your rims have high quality bearings and are manufactured well to ensure the best possible performance and a long life for your spinners.

There are many different ways for you to buy spinning rims and one of the easiest ways to shop for and purchase spinners is by using the internet. On the internet you will have access to hundreds of different stores that specialize in selling spinning rims and other car accessories. On the web you will be able to browse through many different styles of rims, different colors, and different configurations. You will also be able to easily check out a large number of manufactures all in one place.

One of the biggest concerns when you buy something large on the internet is how you will have it shipped to you. When you buy spinning rims on the internet from one of the many online dealers, you are likely to get free shipping. Remember when you choose a seller, to choose one that has a high rating, and it is best to get personal recommendations. But if you cannot get a recommendation that be sure that the seller you choose offers a satisfaction guarantee and a warranty.

There is a lot to consider when you are shopping for spinning rims. However the bottom line is that you want your car, truck or SUV to look amazing. And with spinners, your vehicle will look flashy and you are sure to catch everyones attention no matter what style or brand you choose.

Lease VS Buy A Car Always Lease It First And Save Money

Lease VS Buy A Car, Always Lease It First And Save Money
By Ralph Hoffmann

Lease a Car First and Buy it Later
Save lots of money. Analysis about buying or leasing a new car isn't necessary as long as cars are a glut on the market.

To own any car for the least possible price and dread doing a lease vs. buy analyses, don't buy the car; lease it then buy it later and save a lot of money.

Exploit the Glut of Cars for Sale
As long as car production is greater than consumption, and big discounts are available for several years to come, just read the market trends and lease it first and ignore all those lease vs. buy programs.

In the past, car manufacturers moved cars by subsidizing leases. The monthly lease cost was lowered by increasing the residual value, which lowered the monthly lease payment, thereby selling (leasing) more cars.

Lease Residual Values are Inflated in your Favor
But the value of the vehicle at the end of the lease was almost always less than the contracted residual and each of the off-lease cars then had to be sold in the wholesale market at a loss of several thousand dollars.

Some of the big backers of lease financing, Chrysler, some New York banks, and others, each lost several hundred million dollars in each of the past two or three years because they had to sell the off-lease cars on the open market for less than the residual value.

Take Advantage of Too Many Cars for Sale
Therefore the buy or lease a new car decision is moot as long as manufacturers are subsidizing leases because they have too many cars to sell; a one-time opportunity is present, namely:, lease it now and buy it at a discount the end of the lease and save thousands of dollars.

Having to make a lease vs. buy decision is no longer necessary as long as supply exceeds demand and the old rules are now dictated by a surplus of cars< on the market, this is the time of opportunity for an car buyer.

Compounding the problem for the heavily unionized manufacturers is that their labor contracts are so juicy that those car manufacturers are better off continuing to give away cars rather than to close a plant and pay unaffordable health and welfare and pension benefits to laid off employees.

This Opportunity will only last for Two or Three more Years.
This situation will not change for several years until consolidation, plant closings, or bankruptcies have cured the problem. until the. Plant closings will be a last resort.

Therefore the glut of new cars will likely continue for a few years. Now is the prime time to consider taking advantage of a declining resale value of most cars. The subsidized lease will continue to be offered

Should I Buy or Lease a New Car
By initially leasing a car, the maker is essentially offering a price that cant be beaten. It may actually approach or be lower than the employee cost widely advertised. Then buy the car at the end of the lease.

At the end of the car lease the company financially backing the lease most likely will sell the car on the open market at a loss. Why not intervene at that point and buy the car for less than the residual value and put that loss into your pocket as money saved?

Check out your Car's Used Car Value Prior to Lease End
About three months before the end of the lease, cruise the used car lots and notice what your car is being offered at. Note tha the used carprice is always higher than the resiudal value to allow for dealr costs and profit. A ten percent cushion is not unreasonable.

Then compare the asking price on the used car lot with the residual value in your lease contract. The residual value may be larger than the asking price for a similar model on the used car lot. That means that the company owning your leased car will have to sell it at a loss when you turn it in.

Now you put in the knife and buy the car (no commissions paid to anyone on this transaction) at the end of the Lease and keep several thousand dollars in your pocket.

Bypass the Dealer to make your Buyout Offer
From your dealer, get the phone number of the company that owns the car you leased. Call them and offer to buy your leased car for the asking price on the used car lot less about 10% at least.

If they object, point out that they will have to sell the car at a loss because the residual value is more than what the car is worth on the used car lot. They know that, but hate to admit it.

So lease the car of your dreams today and forget about excess mileage charges.

A true-life example
A business friend of mine had a three-year-old leased car with a contract residual value of $28,000. Looking at the used car lot he found he could buy one just like it for $24,000. He assumed the company that financed the lease would loose at least $2,000 in selling it for less than the contracted residual value.

Through the dealer he offered $22,000 to buy the car as is and his offer was promptly accepted, including 3%, 3 year financing. His dealings, all by phone (no face to face negotiations needed) were with the company financing the lease. To buy any car, or Van or SUV or Light truck, by all means consider the idea of lease vs. buy as your answer.

RV Tire Protection

RV Tire Protection
By Warren Hull

Very few RV tires actually wear out. Most of them rot out due at least partially to the sun. The sun's UV rays are persistently working away at the tire rubber. This deterioration leads to cracks in the sidewalls and tread areas. When these cracks get bad enough, your tire gives up. The result is at best a flat tire, at worst, a blowout. All of us have seen rigs along side the road with shredded tires.

Too often, the damage is not just the tire, but also damage to the rig. Sometimes, the end result is loss of control and a crash. It is important to actually inspect your tires for proper inflation and condition each trip out. If you have any doubts, go to your trusted tire supplier for an inspection. The life you save might be mine.

You cant stop tire deterioration, but you can sure slow it down. Just like you protect your skin from the sun, you can protect your tires from the sun. One of the best methods is to keep your tires out of the sun. How? Cover your tires. There are vinyl tire covers that wrap around the tire. There are flat tire covers that attach to the side of your rig and drape over the tires. The wrap around are less expensive, but more difficult to install. The flat allow air to circulate, match the rig better, easier to install especially without getting your sleeves dirty, but cost more. Plywood can be leaned up against them, but it does look tacky. Some chemical compounds can be applied like sun tan lotion. Not all work equally. In fact, some tire companies speak out against them. There are some that probably do more damage than good.

Actual use of your rig promotes tire longevity. The flexing of the tire through use actually releases some of the internal rubber compounds. These components help protect the tire. There is nothing like another reason to use your RV. If your RV is going to be parked for an extended period of time, then use a vapor barrier between the concrete or asphalt and your tire.

A major cause of tire failure is under inflation. Follow the instructions and inflate your tires to the proper pressure for your RV weight. Check the pressure when the tires are cold. Buy a decent tire pressure gauge from your local auto parts store. They are cheap when compared to the price of a tire. If you are not sure of the right pressure, your local tire store can help you. A tire failure leaves you stranded by the side of the road. A blow out usually damages your RV. Avoid the problem as much as possible.

Your tires are an important part of your rig. Once you have done what you can, then get out there and enjoy your travels. There are lots to see and many places to visit. Do it!

Tips on Buying a Used Recreational Vehicle

Tips on Buying a Used Recreational Vehicle
By Troy Shanahan

Buying a used recreational vehicle can be an intimidating undertaking, particularly if you do not know what you are searching for. The main thing to remember when looking for a used recreational vehicle is that it should align perfectly with your intended use. If you expect to use the recreational vehicle for an extended length of time, you need to make certain that the vehicle is working within strict mechanical standards and has enough horsepower to get to the places you want to go. It should be durable and safe, as well as excellent operationally so as to support a relaxed trip.

Buying a used recreational vehicle can also become somewhat of a roll of the dice. You cant always foresee what you are going to end up with in terms of just exactly how used a particular vehicle actually is. Thats why it is best to ask some questions and make sure you get answers.

If you arent satisfied with the answers at any point, stop the conversation and take your business to another dealer. Think about the information you are getting and take your time to explore options further. There is nothing worse than spending your money on something you do not really want, much less on something that will not serve its purpose within a few months and will become obsolete and useless.

Of course the first thing you will want to know about any used recreational vehicle is just how used it actually is. Looking at the vehicle itself is the best way to make sense of this issue. Try to uncover telltale signs of damage or possible problems with the exterior of the vehicle.

Dents, paint mismatches missing chrome can mean trouble. Have a look under the hood too; look over the engine for potential problems and talk to the dealer about it. Ask pointed questions about anything you do not understand. Dont be afraid to bring up any subject about your potential purchase. It is your money and your purchase, so your assurance is important.

Inquire about mileage, too. You want to know how far the vehicle has travelled on average trips, as well as how long has been driven in total. If it is used to making cross country voyages, it should be well broken in and durable enough for your purposes. If it has only experienced small trips, you may want something more experienced with larger trip sizes. But not too long trip sizes. All depends on your intended use for the used recreational vehicle.

Honda Accord Coupe 2005: The Weekly Driver Review

Honda Accord Coupe 2005: The Weekly Driver Review
By James Raia

Just inside the guard gate, the world renowned 17-Mile Drive in Carmel, Calif., begins with a primarily downhill and often winding two-lane road to Pebble Beach Golf Links. The tree-lined route features lavish, oceanfront homes and a predominately forest-like setting along California's central coast.

It's a perfect several-mile locale for drivers who like to shift through gears. And it's not-so-surprisingly pleasant while doing so in the 2005 Honda Accord.

With its V6, six-speed manual transmission offering, the exceedingly popular model crosses categories. The Accord is listed as a midsize vehicle and it's often compared to the Chevrolet Malibu, Nissan Altima and Toyota Camry.

But the 24-valve, 3.0-liter, 240-horsepower coupe is just as much sports car as it is anything else. And it provides one more reason why the Accord in its more than 25 varieties is among the most popular and most often best-buy categorized vehicles on the road.

During my weeklong test drive, I drove the Accord Coupe round-trip from Sacramento to the Monterey Peninsula. The interstate portion of the journey included about 400 miles. I drove the aforementioned section of the 17-Mile Drive six times round-trip on clear, blue sky days and in heavy rain. It made little difference.

In all driving conditions, the Accord Coupe performed with confidence. Steering and handling is responsive and poised. Lane changes are smooth. While not as quick as other vehicles categorized as sports cars, the Accord Coupe accelerates well and finds its ways through gears more than adequately. Its 17-inch wheels further add to the tight road feel. The Accord's ride is also adequately quiet.

Like all Hondas, the Accord Coupe's interior is designed in a straightforward manner. Gauges and all instrumentation are clean and used simply. The navigation system is likewise efficient and easy to learn.

Despite its coupe status, front-seat passengers have comfortable leg, body and head room. Back seat passengers (two fit comfortably) have easy access. Side rear-view vision is slightly impeded by headrests and side pillars. The driver's seat, while comfortable for a six-foot, 185-pound driver, is void of the superior seat cushioning of high-end vehicles.

Standard interior features are plentiful: leather-trimmed seats, AM/FM, six-disc CD with six speakers, XM satellite radio, heated front seats, power window and door locks, illuminated visor vanity mirrors, cruise control, exterior temperature gauge, sunglass holder and well-positioned armrests and storage compartments.

Finding fault with the Accord is difficult, but cargo room could be better, and average city mileage numbers aren't special. Yet, the Honda Accord has built its reputation through the years for good reasons. It does everything well, and offers reliability and great resale value.

Whether a buyer opts for the base LX four-door, four-cylinder sedan, the EX V6 four-door sedan or the EX, V6 coupe, the sportiest model of all, it's hard to improve upon the Accord or find any vehicle with more to offer for the price.

Safety features Dual-stage driver and front passenger dual-stage front, side and side curtain airbags. Antilock brakes.

Fuel Mileage (estimates) 20 mpg (city), 30 mpg (highway).

Warranty Bumper to bumper, 3 years/36,000 miles; Power train, 3 years/36,000 miles; Corrosion, 5 years/unlimited mileageBase price $28,880

Do Nitrous Oxide Systems (NOS) Have A Practical Purpose On Diesels?

Do Nitrous Oxide Systems (NOS) Have A Practical Purpose On Diesels?
By Nathan Young

There are many people out there that will justify anything that they can so they can feel good about doing something, or having something in their possession. The question is, does nitrous have any practical application on a diesel engine, but first a little information about nitrous oxide.

The Nitrous kits for diesels that we run are pretty easy to install, with all of the wiring and solenoids self contained in two boxes, with all necessary hardware and fittings. And can even be installed if you have NOT O-ringed your heads, although if you do have stock heads you should limit the amount of nitrous being sprayed.

Nitrous Oxide when burned at high temperatures, releases oxygen. With nitrous burning it allows for a 50% saturation of oxygen, while atmospheric air only allows for about a 20% saturation of oxygen. The more oxygen, the more power. Nitrous dramatically increases power instantly. Nitrous also will dramatically lower the exhaust gas temperatures. Propane will also lower exhaust temperature some, but nothing like nitrous will. But does it have any real application?

Nitrous could be used in very small shots to keep things cool and give a little power, but the price would be way too much for the gain that you would get. Other than that, nitrous is friend only to those who are challenged to a drag race, or for the man who just has to be the fastest. There is really no towing application for nitrous oxide. With anything that will increase power so dramatically you need to take precautions as well, and should have a full set of gauges and the ability to monitor all of your engines parameters. So in conclusion, does running a nitrous oxide system have any real application on a diesel engine? Answered as an individual that has to have all the bells and whistles, Im going to have to answer with an emphatic YES! So its only real purpose is for fun and racing.

MercedesBenz CClass Made Even Classier

Mercedes-Benz C-Class Made Even Classier
By Dwayne Thomas

Mercedes-Benz has recently launched its all new C-Class saloon in Germany and will be presenting the same C-Class in South Africa in August this year. The C-Class emphasizes three elements and these are comfort, agility, and safety.

Each of the Avantgarde, Elegance, and Classic lines emphasize a unique characteristic but share the same technologies such as the Agility Control package which includes a situation-sensor shock absorber control, an Intelligent Light System with five distinct functions and the Pre-Safe preventive occupant protection system. The new C-Class range is also equipped with the same quality auto components such as Mercedes Benz heater core. The Mercedes heater core is a small radiator that helps the primary radiator in cooling the coolant to prevent the possible overheating of the car.

The local specs are to be announced at a later stage and some options may differ from overseas markets. For the overseas theres a choice of four and six-cylinder engines with up to 13 percent more output than the previous model coupled with a six percent lower fuel consumption.

The C-Class Saloon has a length measuring 4581mm and approximately 55mm longer than its predecessor. The body width has also increased by 42mm to 1770mm while the wheelbase has an additional 45mm to 2760mm. these dimensions have enabled the front shoulder room to grow by 40mm.

The design of the new C-Class was derived from the modern Mercedes-Benz approach that includes taut lines, and large tranquil surfaces with the front end highlighting a pronounced wedge-shape. And for the first time in Mercedes Saloon, the radiator grille was used as a distinctive feature to make the model variants more visible in the market.

The sporty Avantgarde model features three extended, horizontal louvers and a big centrally positioned Mercedes-Benz star. The Elegance for its part gets a three-dimensional, louvered radiator grille with a high-gloss paint finish which accentuates comfort and luxury. The Classic model as the name suggests has designed that is traditional despite the fact that it is similar to the other two C-Class models in terms of ride and technical specs.

The engines of the C-Class have been increased by around 18 percent in torque while the four and six cylinder units also feature an improved smoothness. Great attention was also given to the further development of the four-cylinder mills. In the petrol range output of the entry-level C 180 Kompressor has been increased from 105kW to 115kW with maximum torque improved 4.5 percent from the previous 220 to 230 Nm, while the C 200 Kompressor develops 15kW more than before.

It also delivers an output of 135kW and revs up a maximum torque of 250 Nm from 2800rpm. It can sprint from 0 to 100km/h by 0.5 seconds faster that any of the previous models. The new C-Class were also made more economical, the C 180 Kompressor consumes 0.31/100km less than the before. On the other hand the combined fuel consumption of the C 200 Kompressor has been reduced by 0.51/100km.

The C-Class diesel option will focus on enhancement of the four-cylinder unit. There are already several improvements done to the engine, turbocharger and common rail direct injection altering more than 90 components in the process. The said modifications were done by engineers at Stuttgart. And as result of the conducted modification is a new C 220 CDI with a peak output of 125kW from the 110kW previously and delivers a potent torque of 400Nm from the previous 2000rpmagain an 18 percent increase power than before. Similarly fuel consumption has been further reduced by up to 0.31/100km and according to Mercedes Benz the C 220 CDI is capable of traveling 100 km on just 6.1 liters of fuel.

The C-Class offered in Europe remains unchanged with a choice of three petrol units developing 200kW, 170kW, and 150 kW. The new C 320 CDI with its six-cylinder engine has an output of 165 kW. All models in the new C-Class except for the C 350 are equipped with a six-sped transmission featuring Agility Control gearshift as standard. Instead the C350 will get a 7G Tronicthe worlds only 7-speed automatic transmission as standard equipment. This feature is also available for the rest of the six-cylinder C-Class models on request.

This was the main piece of news that the Ford Motor Company announced just very recently to the motoring public and to the automobile industry. Primarily, this move was done so as to sell out any remaining 2006 Ford vehicle models and in the process give way for the 2007 Ford line up.

If you have not yet heard, the Ford Motor Company has been suffering for several months now because of low and declining sales. Aside from that, the company is also suffering from loss of funds for they had just recently sent out a huge recall of several Ford vehicle models that were found out to be prone to starting fires. Of course, with that, the company would have to shell out huge amounts of money so as to replace any affected parts like Ford Granada parts as well as spending the money on people who would be doing the replacements and the testing of the recalled vehicles.

As per this new incentive program from the auto manufacturer from Dearborn, the company clarifies that this has been done not just for those customers who have excellent credit and live on the high end. Whitney Drake, one of Fords spokespeople, further explains that this program could be availed by anybody who is interested and simply has good credit scores. If you are interested, the zero percent financing program includes 2007 vehicles models from the company like the 2006 Ford Lincoln as well as 2006 Mercury vehicle models. Also included in the list is the Ford F-series pick up truck which is one of the companys best selling vehicles.

On the end of experts in the automotive industry, Paul Taylor, the chief economist of the National Automobile Dealers Association or the NADA, has his own analysis of the situation. He explains, After a hot summer and moderate sales, expect hotter sales pace in Big Three trucks fueled by incentives, and some increase in fleet placements. And this is exactly what Ford is doing.

Is There Such A Thing As A Trustworthy Mechanic?

Is There Such A Thing As A Trustworthy Mechanic?
By Kim Oxford

At some point everyone needs a mechanic for their car, and it's hard to find a trustworthy mechanic. However there are steps you can take to help you choose the lesser of all evils when it comes to who repairs your transportation. In the end you need to be able to trust the guy repairing your brakes, putting on your tires and monitoring your fluids.

Trusting Dealerships
Many of us just throw our hands up and take our car to the dealership when we have problems with them. If you consider that they are the experts when it comes to your specific make and model it's a smart option, unfortunately it's also a pricey one. When it comes to rare vehicles and some imports it is probably advisable to stick with dealership expertise. Same if you hold an extended warranty purchased from the dealership, at least be sure to stay within their approved mechanic circle to ensure you do not void any part of your warranty.

In reality most of us don't drive rare imports and don't want to pay the extra money the dealership will charge us. This coupled with the less than average customer service that many experience at the hands of any dealership service department make a trip there for repairs nothing short of a horror movie. Never fear, there are other options.

Chain Service Shops
There are many chain shops to choose from, which is confusing if you consider that many times mechanic shopping is done under duress. Give yourself peace of mind and research your mechanics before your car breaks down, so when something goes wrong you already know where to take it. Chain mechanics can be tricky, some franchise locations may employ better mechanics than others under the umbrella of the same name. This is generally a trial and error process, so if you find one you think you like, be sure to always have a plan B.

Neighborhood Mechanic
Not all of us are lucky enough to be in the car business, or even know anyone with any mechanical skill. However, many times a local neighborhood mechanic can be your best bet. Often they are mom and pop shops and that makes every customer an important one. This can also mean much more personalized service from someone who wants to get your future business. Lacking the impersonality of chain store mechanics just working for their hourly, this option may cost more than the chain stores do, but could just prove to be worth it in the long run.

No Matter Where You Go, Do These 3 Things First

Finding the good stuff is never easy, but if you follow the few simple steps below you can at least start off with the best to choose from

1. Look them up with the Better Business Bureau. Right away you can eliminate mechanics who have had negative reports filed about them. Our lives are busy, if someone took the time to report them, they aren't worth a second glance.

2. Utilize organizations such as the ASE, start off with options that are well endorsed.

3. Ask your friends. Everyone knows how hard it is to find a trustworthy mechanic, so be sure to ask around. Usually people are happy to share a good mechanic, lets keep the good ones in business folks.
